That filter on the reservoir you pried out, comes out nice and easy if you just turn it counterclockwise about 1/4 turn. Don't break the thing.

Used this on my 2013 Prius. All my ABS error codes disappeared!

A friends Prius has had a vcs/abs/brake light combo on the dash ever since someone attempted a standard "bleed". The driver side caliper groans, im assuming air inside. Its been like this for years. Would this method work for purging the air? It sounds like his actuator is working but the brakes are not great.

It's hard to tell what's going on. I would first check the caliper slide pins to make sure they are not stuck. The codes should be scanned to properly diagnose the problem. There may be air trapped in the master cylinder, proportion valve, anti-lock brake unit and or the calipers & wheel cylinders. Those items may have a leak. Since my method of bleeding is simple and doesn't required fancy tools, I would do this first. Best of luck! Let us know what you find.

​@@davidgpoChecked slide pins no issue there, groaning only coming from driver caliper. Toyota gave him 3 different codes it threw , going to double check w tge techstream cable. Will your method work even with some lights on? The brake actuator makes noise so should work with car off?

@@muffinmanclan Is the piston in the caliper moving freely? I don't know enough about the system to judge if the bleed procedure works with the light on. I assume it would work. I know it works with the car off.
