Do you know if there is a way to map one of the custom buttons to the record button while you are in photo mode? This way you don’t need to flick the video button.😊

You dont need to setup a button. Just push the record button while in photo mode

Appreciate the kind words and you are correct. Unfortunately Sony doesn’t allow for independent control of the Picture Profile using this method, Canon however does in the R5 & R3. Happy creating!

Can you take still image “while” taking video? I think that’s the most ideal.

Supposedly the R5 ii has a feature allowing you to do this in the moment. You can always shoot video and pull stills from the video afterwards in an editing software of your choice.

Can you punch in easily and mantain the same quality? If you are shooting 4K and punch in can you still get 4K footage?

Very informative. Just wondering when you're shooting hybrid weddings what white balance and focus settings you typically have on your A7iv?

Appreciate that! For white balance in all honesty I leave it on auto. It typically does a decent job but this is one that I’m okay with adjusting in post. For focus setting I’m always shooting in AF-C and bouncing back and forth between wide area and medium spot using the joystick to selectively choose focus. Tracking also has worked well where I will use the center square to pick my subject and let the camera track as I move it around the frame.

You could just flip the switch to video and get your footage in slog 3 then switch it back for photos. Only thing this will introduce is the higher iso of SLOG3

To be completely honest I still use the original DJI Ronin S from back in the day. Stick with DJI and snag any one of their gimbals the RS3 or people say the RS4 is going to come out soon. I’d recommend the Pro versions just so that way it can grow with you! Best of luck friend!

Great video! any ideas where to post the video sequences for sale? as shootproof, the site where I have my photos for sale, does not support videos. I can only think of you tube, but not very convinient as I would have to set up another way for payment seperately. thank you for sharing

You are looking to sell stock footage! Places like Artlist, Soundstripe, Envato elements, and especially Filmsupply all have creator agreements. Take a look and see which one best suits you!

The quick answer is no. Technically you can always take still frames from video later on in post. I’ve done this to deliver stills to clients who are only needing it for web / social. I’d recommend to shoot 4k or even 8k if your camera is capable. High frame rates would help with sharpness as well.

or just use 2 cameras on a double strap . Doing both photo and video simultaneously work only for short highlights videos but not for wedding films . And on a wedding there are moments when you have no time to switch and should choose just photo or video.

It’s really not an “or” situation but rather an “and”. Whether or not you use this method, dual cameras or a two person team all of them are applicable and knowing when to use them is where experience comes in. Just another tool in the tool belt.
