Believe it or not, one of the best places in the world to eat Indian food outside of India is New York City! You can get everything from Indian street food to casual Indian fare to Indian fine dining there. Join me as I head out to eat Indian food with The Bing Buzz in Tribeca, NYC!
I was excited to film with Ming and Ben from The Bing Buzz again! We’d be eating at Benares, a fine-dining North Indian restaurant in Tribeca. Inside, we met the owner, Aankit, who told us they offer everything from vegetarian to vegan to seafood to meat
👕 DAVID’S BEEN HERE MERCH: teespring.com/stores/davids-b...
From there, we checked out the bar. I got a Bira beer, Ben got a thick mango lassi, and Ming had a tropical drink before Aankit took us back into the kitchens. There, I got to see their tandoors and meet their chefs!
They made us their Tiranga Kebab platter, chicken tikka, Chicken 65, and khasta gobhi (Indo-Chinese fried cauliflower). I loved the Tiranga Kebab, which had a nice kick and was made to look like the colors in the Indian flag! I loved trying it with the mint and tamarind chutneys.
Next was the khasta gobhi, which is both sweet and sour. Then, we got some spicy Chicken 65, which is covered in masala, fried, and sauteed with curry leaves and peppers. It had a nice crunch and was tender like butter! The spice level was maybe a 7 or 8 out of 10!
Back in the kitchen, we watched them make the tandoori lamb and tandoori shrimp, naan, and other curries. They’re like machines back there in the kitchen!
At our table, we had tandoori lamb chops, boondi raita, dum biryani, garlic family naan, chicken tikka masala, and more! Ben and I started with the tandoori lamb chops, which were smoky and tender. Lamb is my favorite meat and this was done right!
The tandoori prawns were big and meaty, with a nice char and a delicious marinade. After washing it down with some beer, we jumped on the diwani handi (a veg and paneer curry), aloo gobhi, and chicken tikka masala with some naan.
The chicken tikka masala with naan was exceptional, and the paneer, spinach, and cauliflower in the diwani handi were amazing. The cauliflower was outstanding, and the chicken tikka masala gravy with the naan was mouthwateringly good!
Next was the dum biryani. I taught Ben how to break up the chicken with his fingers and eat with his hands. It was incredible! Adding some boondi raita makes it creamy and helps glue the rice together. I loved the minty and earthy flavors!
Then, for dessert, we had ras malai, an “Atom Bomb,” and pistachio kulfi. The kulfi was nutty and cold, and not as dense as others I’d had. Next was my favorite Indian dessert, ras malai. It’s so creamy and decadent and full of sweet cardamom flavor.
The Atom Bomb contained chocolate cake and rose ice cream and was really good, but I was too full to eat too much of it!

David, really appreciate how you respectfully speak of Indian food. As an Indian, to me, curry means that it's in gravy. So the dry aloo gobi (potato cauliflower ) would not be called curry which unfortunately non-Indians call it. And masala means spice(s).

David you are SuperFoodStar. I Love the way you eat the biryani with your hands, instead of using spoon or fork. Definitely we Indians use our hand to enjoy the food. It gives us pleasure & food really tastes well. Anxiously waiting for your Sharjah, Dubai & Abu Dhabi vlogs. Be safe, stay healthy & eat more tasty Indian food brother. Loved this vlog David👍👌✌️🤗😋😋😋🇮🇳👏👏👏🙏

Awesome David. We love your videos. The pieces served in a curry or sabzi are usually cook size pieces. Not bite size. So we Indians use our fingers on the bread to smash the piece on a plate into a bite size and then 'stuff it into our mouth' as you say :D That way you can feel the texture of the food even before you taste it. Try it next time. You'll love it. P.S. Don't forget to lick your fingers if you like your food. We invented finger licking way before KFC made it a brand. ;)

The best part is, David becomes a typical Indian while eating Indian food, pronounce the names correctly, eats like the way eaten in India, loves spices and really, really enjoys eating and not for the camera. Not just the Indian food, any food across the globe he eats, he turns locale to that country. Best wishes My Man 👍👍
