🌎 MY TRAVEL/FOOD BLOG: davidsbeenhere...
Back in December of 2021, I set out to explore the United Arab Emirates, a country I’ve traveled to before in the past but never vlogged. There, I met up with my boy Trevor James, a.k.a. The Food Ranger, for an unforgettable street food adventure! Come with me as I eat Indian street food for 24 hours with The Food Ranger in Dubai, UAE!
We’d be spending our day by going on a non-stop Indian street food tour of Old Dubai and Al Karama. We’d be joined by Ting, who works with Trevor, and made our first stop at Rokn Al Fahedi Cafe.

We watched them make methi aloo parathas stuffed with aloo methi. Mint, cumin seeds, onions, and chilies get baked into the parathas as well!
The stuffed parathas are like north Indian pizzas! They came with mint chutney, yellow dal, and pickled chilies called achar. I loved dipping the paratha into the thick yellow dal. The paratha was spicy, potent, and full of ghee flavor. The achar was also spicy!
We finished up with some incredible masala chai and some mango lassi to cool down our mouths!
Next, we headed to Veg World, which has about 500 dishes on their menu. We’d be going there for their jini and masala dosas. They make their jini dosa with pav bhaji gravy and top it with cheese, butter, and cilantro! They also made us a massive grilled Titanic sandwich.
The jini dosa was spicy, tomato-y, buttery, and cheesy! It was doughy and crispy and had some Szechwan flavors as well. It was so flavorful with the coconut chutney. One of the best-and messiest-dosas ever!
The Titanic sandwich was crispy and refreshing, with mint chutney, cucumbers, tomatoes, and cheese. The masala dosa was amazing with the sambar, and they brought us some fluffy, spicy dhokla. It came with some hot and sweet chilies!
Then, we drove through the Al Karama area to Jaffer Bhai’s Restaurant, which is known as the Biryani King of Mumbai! We watched them fry some lamb brains, which they scrambled with a gravy and vegetables. They were like upgraded scrambled eggs!
They also made mutton biryani, mutton seekh kebabs, and garlic butter naan. The naan with butter chicken was so delicious. It was thicker and pastier!
The smoky naan was also unreal with the mutton brain fry. The mutton seekh kebab was tender, garlicky, and minty; and our mango lassi was fruity and refreshing. The malai lamb chops were also tender and buttery!
Finally, we had the mutton biryani, which was so flavorful. I loved the bone marrow and the tender meat! Adding the butter chicken gravy made it even better!
From there, we walked to Mumbai Express for the pani puri. They have tamarind pani and mint-cilantro pani. They were like crunchy, sour, spicy, and sweet flavor explosions! Then, we took a mini-break.
Finally, we headed back to Meena Bazaar for pav bhaji at Vaibhav. It looked super buttery and full of vegetables. It’s extremely buttery, with a soft bun. It wasn’t too spicy and was really good!
Next, we headed to a small shop for matka chai, which they serve in clay cups. I could taste cardamom and ginger, and it also had chunks of pistachio and almond!
Then, we saw how they make tunday kababi at Via Lucknow, which fell apart like butter and came with Mughlai paratha and saffron sheermal! The sheermal is orange and is baked in the tandoor. It’s thick and milky and has lots of layers like a parotta!
Next was the boti kebab, which is made of mutton in a rich, gingery gravy. I loved it! We finished with a sweet called shahi tukda, which was a decadent, nutty sweet, and jalebi.
