I am Albanian living in Athens/Greece, and I can tell you I've been to Albania too ofc, trust me the balkans are very very beautiful, I've gone out of Athens in Greece to villages, small towns and villages, while in Albania I've been to Elbasan city which is a mix of a big city and out of the centre like a small town or village and to an Albania village in Elbasan I think and trust me the are a mix of everything in one place too

Some info about the village near daias, Its called Petrele it has two old castles one was second home of the legendary Scanderbeg and one is an illyrian castle which is thought that is builded from a illyrian king,And also is a very ancient tomb with huge stones size 2m with 1m and its thought its around 2500bc

Beautiful place. Loving the breakfast. I used to have Tortoise and Terrapins. The largest was the size of a dinner plate. In the end they got a new home at the local Garden Centre. We still visit them from time to time. That was 29 years ago. I love them, they just got too big. 🌿🌿🍃🥀🥀💓🥀🥀🍃🌿🌿

Most people don’t know what a tortoise is that is why we say turtle. But we educate our guest and explain that it is Hermanns Tortoise and the Marginated Tortoises which are the two species that exist in Albania

David if you put sugar when you make raki doesn't mean you are going to have headache the next day after you drink, meaning that if you drink raki which is mixed with sugar when you make it after you drink you are going to be thirsty the next day only if you drink at list half a kilo which means your body needs water and you will end up by drinking a lot of water. Agree on the sugar, my understanding white sugar can change the flavor. I think it is best when no sugar is added. Scotch is made with 100% malted barley and no sugar. Bourbon in the USA, is made with 51% corn and malted barley, malted rye or wheat - no sugar. Commercially make sense they don’t add costs to production. All moonshiners, turn the mash into wash by filtering out the grains, so just the water and alcohol. You don’t want to burn the wash or any sediment. Having a raging fire like they did can burn all the mash making the shine taste harsh.
