It won't be that big of an issue. FOX Sports has 14 races next year but only 5 will air on FOX. The other 9 will be on FS1. If anything's going to get affected, it might be the UFL. If there's a UFL game after an Indycar race that's been delayed then it might push them to shorten the post race coverage.
@chrisguardiano61434 ай бұрын
@@modasher from what I have been reading, the UFL is currently in talks with NBC & CBS about creating a third package for games next season, meaning that some games that were on Fox this season would be moved to this third package or be moved to ESPN/ABC so that Fox can accommodate NASCAR & Indycar. In basic terms, the UFL is trying to increase the number of broadcasters it has without having to resort to streaming. Since NBC is likely going to spend a ton of money to regain the NBA, this third package of UFL games is likely going to CBS since apart from the PGA Tour & select UEFA Champions League games, they don't have any major sports from April-September when the NFL & college football starts up. This is especially the case on weekends during the summer in which they don't have the PGA Tour.

First, copy NASCAR and close the pits with the caution, allow all drivers to pit under caution, and if an incident happens where a car is stopped in a dangerous position (really anywhere), immediate caution. Option 2: copy F1, allowing for local yellows if needed, but a full course yellow gives all drivers a free stop option, then sees the pits closed.

I'm one of those 'Kiwi fans from down-under'. The 'yellow flag' rule Indycar has, has driven me crazy ever since I started watching Indycar in around 2018. I know Americans like to do things differently, but I do find it very frustrating, that for street course and road course races, an incident at say Turn 5, can't just have the safety car collect the drivers at Turn 1 (or whatever the first turn is after pit lane exit). I find that a rather simple concept. For the ovals: there's no choice there; once an incident occurs, it must be full course yellow and 'thou shalt not go to the pits until we allow you to!' must be the rules, for multiple reasons. But for the other courses Indycar drives on, it should just be localised yellows, allow the drivers to get their pit stops done if they want to, and everyone piles up behind the safety car. As a non-American, the whole 'thou shalt not go to pits due to safety reasons over the yellow' is rather silly, as that actually causes safety issues in pitlane as the ENTIRE FIELD rolls through pitlane at the same time as a result. Anyways that's my rant on this: I very much dislike how an entire race can be won because a driver 'won the yellow flag lottery' by pitting at a different time to everyone else. Kinda like Lando Norris in Formula 1 this year, when the Formula 1 officials managed to make an absolute mess of the safety car picking up the lead driver.

The tracks are a bit smaller here. Having a local yellow you would either have to make it very small or it would take up about 1/3 or maybe even half of the track. Realistically there are only a few courses big enough to do local yellows and it just isn't worth the effort for those few occasions.

Top notch content as always. I am really nervous about the move to Fox. Peacock has been lifeline for me because I moved to Vietnam two years ago and even though I have to get up in the middle of the night, I have watched EVERY practice, qualifying, and race. I hope to be in Nashville for the finale but am afraid that it may be my last IndyCar race. If there is not a reasonably priced way to stream the series after this year...I will be gutted. I love IndyCar but don't plan on moving back just to watch Fox broadcast. 😥

NASCAR guy here. I hate what NBC did for you guys this past weekend. Since the NASCAR race was the one I wanted to watch and it was the middle of the three races this weekend, here's what I saw. IMSA guys got screwed over too, at least a little bit. I normally tune in about a half hour before the NASCAR race starts. I tuned in this time to see three hours remaining in the Six Hours of the Glen and that coverage is gonna move over exclusively to Peacock to end the race. Why? Why bother to put the start of the race on TV if you're not even planning to show the end? I didn't think this was the worst thing though. I don't pay attention to IMSA often, usually only the Rolex 24, so given my limited knowledge of the league I figured everyone knew well in advance this race wasn't ending on USA Network. Still a bad move in my eyes to schedule it like that from the get go, but oh well. Next was the NASCAR race at New Hampshire. For the most part the broadcast went very smoothly in my opinion. And then the rain came in and red flagged the race. Eventually it was brought up that IndyCar was supposed to be on next, so I wondered how that would play out. Then they announce that the coverage that was supposed to be on network television was going to stream exclusively on Peacock. WTF! It's raining, NASCAR's humming and hawing about their next move, at least show the start of the IndyCar race while we're waiting. But no, they wanted to show the end of last weekend's Iowa race. All the while there's nothing on the screen indicating what's happening to the IndyCar coverage. Eventually they announce one time that the race will be on network television after all, and it'll be on CNBC. But still nothing on screen saying where the IndyCar race is. More Iowa replay, and eventually NASCAR gets going again. The IndyCar race is never brought up again on the NASCAR broadcast. Not out loud, not in text on the screen, nothing. If I'm a casual IndyCar fan and just tuning into whatever race happens to be on the TV guide, I'm really confused right now. There's no way it's on NBC's finance/money channel, right? I really wish they were more persistent with their reminders that IndyCar was on CNBC. Maybe some scrolling text at the bottom of the screen. I also wish that they would have showed the start of the race on USA Network until NASCAR sorted themselves out. They could have had the IndyCar commentators say something like "For those of you that tuned in to see the IndyCar race at Laguna Seca please change channels to CNBC. For those of you wanting NASCAR please stay right here. We'll be back here after the conclusion of the NASCAR race in New Hampshire." TL;DR: Although I'm a NASCAR fan, I hate what NBC has done this weekend. It was a disservice to IMSA and IndyCar fans, and I would have been fine giving up some coverage of the rain delay to see the start of the IndyCar race.

Idk why there's even any questions bout grosjean. Dude was fantastic early on with Dale coyne, and he's been good so far this season. He struggled with andretti sure, but the fact he doesn't struggle the same way with now 2 other teams.... leads one to question what it was with andretti that caused problems? Even rossi wasn't very good with andretti outside maybe his first year with them. Does coyne run Chevy engines? Had a thought maybe it's the Honda package he didn't gel with

I think the real frustration with Newgarden is, anytime we have to explain an odd call or no call from race control, it’s something that benefited Newgarden. No one else is consistently in this position. Not saying that I agree with the conspiracies or that I think race control is wrong. But it does seem to happen a lot.

If they wanted to wait to throw the yellow, Indycar should have waited until Newgarden had completely exited pit lane… but nope! The broadcast was showing his onboard and they literally threw the yellow the moment he hit his pitbox. That is a totally biased race director trying to benefit his boss’ team. Sorry, but that’s the truth. Bring back the rule from the 2000s where a full course yellow is thrown whenever the accident happens

The problem with the discretionary timing of the yellow flag is it’s open to way too much interpretation. If the race genuinely needs to go yellow, it needs to happen immediately. Doesn’t help matters that when they delay it, it always seems to benefit Penske (ie McLaughlin at Barber last year). To eliminate the favouritism they need make their rules black and white and follow them. It’s when they start winging it that it goes bad. (Ie changing the number of laps after yellow to warm tires at Indy).

I wish we had a live timing replay available so we could dive back into it and see how much josef really benefitted. While watching the live timing during the race after palou and Grosjean pitted he was at least 1 second a lap faster than either. Grosjean was only a few seconds down the road so he would’ve come out in at least 4th in front of Grosjean and maybe in front of Rossi and Herta depending on how long he stayed out and the gaps. But again without a live timing replay it would be hard to figure out from rewatching peacock

I had hopes that Kirkwood or Rossi could have pulled off a big win, even Herta for that matter but ended up just being Palou riding off into the sunset again. The TV coverage was complete BS with my local USA station only showing NASCAR rain delay and then Law & Order ridiculous. Not even a ticker to say the race had been moved to Peacock. Kind of like when Fox showed nothing but infomercials instead of the Daytona 500 not mention of a rain delay ticker anywhere. No idea Leguna race went to CNBC just total BS.

The fact that IndyCar was on CNBC was not a surprise under these circumstances. Preferring NASCAR events over IndyCar events has happened for years. However, did anyone notice that every commercial on CNBC was a full commercial break and not side-by-side?

I think Indycar needs a F1 style virtual safety car option (on road / street courses) for the situation we had with the Armstrong wreck. Ideally in that scenario, Armstrong stalls, go virtual safety car, let the drivers get into the pit under the VC, BUT maybe have a 5-10 second penalty for pitting under the VC since the driver doesn't have to do an out lap (so driver doesn't get an advantage but it doesn't totally kill their race either like it would if they were to get caught out), then go full safety car; and do the restarts like normal.
