Thank you, sweetie. BTW I am an artist who was swimming in turbulent artistic waters for some time and a pretty experienced one. Yet, I learned so much from your videos, and this tells volumes about your fantastic ability to teach all of us new stuff and explore new territories, new ways of doing and new ways of saving. Thank you. The idea to explore ideas on canvas paper is precious. I took a more expensive route and had crowded my living space with gallery canvases. Since I am on a forced hiatus from my art (I slipped on ice and broke my wrist 8 days ago) I have some free time on my hand (pun intended 🥴) I will watch more of your videos hoping your calming voice will distract me from pain. 🌺

Thank you for the information. I've been using soft pastels quite a bit on stretched canvas here lately, I want to try oil pastels on the stretched canvas next, but have a harder time with blending because of my Parkinson's, and just found out that I also have white matter disease, which makes the Parkinson's progress faster. I'm more foggy in my thoughts, and my motor skills are getting worse. I want to do as many pictures as I can, because I don't know how much time I have left, before I won't be able to do anything anymore. You're such an amazing person and I enjoy your videos very much, thank you for all you do. 🙂♥️

Thanks so much, it means a lot! Personally, all the content I watch on KZbin is always super positive, inspiring videos and I know how helpful it is for me in my daily life. That's what I try to give back. In my past, I've been in a position where I felt lonely, stuck and completely uninspired. I had that little creative spark within that I wasn't sure how to nurture and channel and I had nobody to share it with. KZbin would have been so helpful then! I always have younger Syndia in mind when I make videos because I remember vividly what I needed then and I know so many of us are looking for that same spark of positive dose on the daily :o) Have a great rest of the weekend! (thanks for for your kind words). Take care.

Thank you for another great video! In my case, I have been painting with oil pastels for over 20 years, without knowing how to draw. I was very happy with my process. Zero pretensions gives you a lot of freedom. BUT one day I decided I wanted to learn how to draw and I bought pencils, books and... my muse abandoned me. I let her go, and now that I’ve improved my skills, she’s slowly approaching again. It’s a very personal journey. And I couldn’t agree more with you statement about the joy as the main guiding force in every learning process. Your art is awesome, Syndia! It comes from a generous soul.
@SyndiaArt4 жыл бұрын
I love what you said: Zero pretensions gives you a lot of freedom. So true. I think at some point everybody will get to a place where they will seek more technical skills. It's a natural progression but I really wanted to make the point that it doesn't have to be the entire focus of the journey, especially in the very beginning stages. The classical way to ''train'' artists can be pretty dry and disheartening (from my experience in university at least) :o) Thanks for your kind words, it's much appreciated. Have a great weekend Yolanda!

I agree I make canvas art and just make stuff from the top of my head as I do it to air out what goes on in my head or express myself. Also there now laws or boundaries no physics. It’s a way to escape reality and it’s like lucid dreaming to me. The art I do is expressive abstract or like collaging. I’m currently working on one that represents the scams like constant ads phone calls and such. I drew some stuff and going to collage that while I’m making the background very colorful even adding clear glitter to sections

right now my goal for the painting world is to create some pieces for my friends that remind me of them or something we both connect over, like the album cover of a band we really like with a twist or something, but I've never been good at drawing and that concerns me because I know they won't judge the result, rather they will appreciate it but because I love them so much I want it to be something beautiful they can look at and feel inspired or just be reminded that they are loved. So now I think I will give it a go without stressing so much, maybe I will end up with something different than my expectation but I can be sure it will be really meaningful :)

Hi! I love the video. I do have a small question. So I do love drawing, I've been doing it for a long time. Painting is something I never got into. I always wanted to, but it was so intimidating. I finally got some nice student grade paints that I love, but I always have this anxiety of "don't waste them" or "this idea isn't worth using my good paints" How do you overcome that fear of using your more expensive art supplies?
@SyndiaArt4 жыл бұрын
YOU. Deserve. Nice. Paints! Period. :o) You really do. Using and enjoying the things you have and love is important. Saving them up for later isn't the best approach. The reality is that you might wait so long to use them, that your paints might start to dry-up in the tube or turn bad. Make every moment special and great! (I drink water in fancy wine glasses on the daily because it makes my heart smile... I never wait for a ''special'' occasion. I try to make every occasion special). And when it comes to art, I accept that only about 2 or 3 out of 10 paintings that I create will come out the way I wished. I accept that, it's just how it is. And I treat the rest of the paintings as great practice and learning experiences that brought me that much more knowledge. I feel like dismissing the bad paintings as failures is a distortion of reality. They are necessary and very valuable. No matter the result, you did it, you painted and you learned. Using those paints even for a failed painting was useful and mattered. And hopefully while you painted you enjoyed yourself even if it didn't turn out the way you expected. Use your paints, enjoy them, no matter the result and when you've used them all up you can be proud that you actually painted, A LOT! It can be so satisfying to use up a tube of paint till the last drop! It actually feels like an accomplishment (never a waste). And it will be the perfect opportunity to buy more paints, different colors, try other brands. (Because you deserve it). And you'll be surprised that even by using them all the time, they last a lot longer than you might think. You can even paint smaller sizes on paper at the beginning if you want to get used to the idea (I use acrylic on Bristol paper). Personally, I would focus on creating great creative moments and great memories rather than wishing for great paintings. Make it fun, make it special, you deserve it and your creative self will thank you. Use your best paper, use your best paints now, because... YOLO!! YOU. Deserve. It. Wishing you tons of inspiration :oD
