Haha that's awesome. Whatever works! I've sort of preparing to quit again and working on the psychological bit for the last two weeks. I tried 2 years ago, but we wound up getting a deal on a new house and moving suddenly...and all just as I was very close to being ready to quit (thank you, Alan Carr books). I got spooked lol. However, I now have to get a failed root canal extracted shortly. Always, with the timing! 😒 I'm half-worried, half-hoping the same happens to me, all while panicking about having to go without cigs for this extraction even though I've had wisdoms pulled and was fine lol. So, yes, half-panicking and half-hoping to quit....uh, as torture-free as possible haha.

this guy is an absolute legend, this video was recommended to me by a Dentist. when I was 18, I got both my lower wisdom pulled and I smoked heavy, (marijuana, no cigs) and I completely stopped for 72 hours after surgery, because it was obviously the right thing to do, it worked out, never had dry socket, actually I was smoking right after the 72 hour mark, without gauze. Today, I am 25 years young and just pulled the other set yesterday, I am craving a smoke and this doesn't seem like a bad idea to try😂 therefore, Ill be trying the gauze technique. thx man! hope this video gets to one million very soon😎

I've had 2 teeth pulled and I lit up about an hour after each extraction. I always used gauze when I smoked. I used them until the supply my dentist gave me ran out. no dry holes. just used gauze religiously. of course we probably wouldnt be in these positions if we didnt smoke to begin with lol

@@jeremycash2953 I was terrified to but only had one pulled. I just hit it super soft the first and second day. At first I kept a wet gauze in my mouth and by the end of the second day I just took it out and continued hitting soft. It's not satisfying. During covid I've been drinking so I'm sure once I had a drink i hit a little harder....but that really doesn't matter. Just go easy. It sucks. I feel for u. I got a wisdom tooth gotta come out next, I don't look forward to soft hitting. Cut half the filter off to give u some kind of hit. I'd be real careful and pay attention to how it feels when u hit. Soft hit should be fine. Maybe stick a gauze (delicately) in after to see if u are bleeding. I didn't get pain killers so I was aware of the discomfort.

Tylenol 3 is the “good stuff” for tooth pain. It works much better on the inflammation than an opiate. I know it doesn’t have the same sedating effect, but it’s super good for post extraction pain.

Got all 4 wisdom teeth removed yesterday. Had to be performed by an oral surgeon and bone had to be ground out to remove all of them. Have been a smoker for almost 20 years. I have heard horror stories about dry socket, so that was the last thing I wanted. I just smoked my first cigarette a couple hours ago, 24 hours after my procedure. I used the gauze method, however, I soaked 2 black tea bags in some lukewarm water, squeezed out the excess tea and used those in place of gauze. Not only do the teabags offer a damp, more comfortable alternative to dry gauze, black tea is high in tannic acid, which constructs blood vessels and helps with the clot in the socket. I took very slow and light pulls on the cigarette. Will continue this method for the next 2-3 days. I may purchase some gauze and soak it in some steeped black tea as well. The tea bags also provided some pain relief, however that could've been the meds, but I don't think so. If you've had your wisdom teeth out, I wish you the best of luck.

The suction is what dislodges the clot, so when you smoke take air in on either side of your mouth with each drag, reduces suction to almost zero, you're basically just taking in a large breath with some smoke in it

I smoked a cigarette as soon as I stepped outta the dentist office. I've had 5 different teeth removed and was fortunate enough to smoke and never get dry socket. I keep the original gauze in for about 6 hours and I'll have maybe one cig and one blunt. I'll then change the gauze before I start smoking again. After about 3 days you can smoke as often as you like without having the gauze in your mouth and not worry about dry socket

Everything he is saying in this video is true! I've had teeth pulled in the past, and made a mistake of smoking too soon after the extraction. 2 weeks of painful hell! Dry socket is NO JOKE! I just had several teeth pulled 3 days ago and this time I made sure to wait a little longer. If I smoke, I place a new piece of damp gauze over the extraction site everytime. Don't bite down too hard as you'll pull some of the clot out with the gauze! Small easy drags is key!

He's right, I've smoked after many extractions. Actually every one. Got dry socket once and it was pretty awful. My advice is don't get much sleep before extraction. Go home after extraction and take 2 Benadryls. You will knock out for those 6-10 hours. Wake up and make sure you clamp down like he said. I wet it with cold water so it keeps it covered and hard. I'm at day and half smoking while watching this after a terrible extraction where they broke my tooth and had to cut my gums deeper. Also I don't suck on the cigarette filter, I enhale with my mouth partially open so there is no suction. Then I rinse my mouth when I'm done. Only reason I got dry socket last time because I went home, ate pizza, and drank a cold thick coffee. It dislodged all of it and I basically got a dry socket a day later.

It is the suction without a doubt. That's what pulls the scab out of the hole left behind. Straws and other things like that are also a bad idea. Gravity bongs would probably work because the water is forcing the air out of the milk jug, you are not creating a pressure vacuum with your mouth that way! P.S. I am not condoning the use of bongs

I've had six dry sockets and I unfortunately have one at this very moment. I just had an eye tooth pulled and i hadn't smoked in 39 hours. because the last time i smoked on a eye tooth i had a dry socket that lasted over a month. I had 2 suture packing blow outs, i almost had to have a bone graft from the dry socket was so bad. it took 6 months for that hole to close up enough. so take my experienced advice and DON'T SMOKE for 48 HOURS. it just ain't worth the pain.

I'm a smoker and i got 2 teeth extracted 6 days ago. And i had to go to the dentist on saturday and he told me i have a dry socket. not one dry socket but 4 of them. I had my two big teeth in the back of my mouth pulled and each tooth had two roots. The pain is something i have never went through before. But i got it from smoking. The strongest pain killers are not helping the pain but i got my gums dressed yesterday and it's helping a bit. Im a heavy smoker but if i get another extraction, i certainly will not smoke. Trust me, it's not worth it.

Love gaming - I waited 3 days to smoke a bowl, had wet gauze over extraction, and kept it clean, hot the bowl very lightly and I still got a dry socket. I am right there with you! just FYI guys, you can take great care, but everyones body is different. so if you choose to smoke and get the dry sockets, ya gotta deal with that. but with that being said, dry sockets are much worse and make it hard to smoke for even longer!!! my advice as a smart person that has gone through this pain - the video is cool and good for him, but it's not like that for everyone. hope this helps someone to not smoke, because I am so mad at myself for giving in and now I'm in the worst pain I've had. and I've broken bones and torn ligaments. I have had most of my teeth pulled. The only way I have had this not happen is to keep the gauze in when you smoke. I’ve smoked directly after. Just don’t use mouth suction. Use your lungs/diaphragm to pull the smoke in. Then anytime you smoke for the first 24-48 hours have a fresh gauze in there. Once done smoking take gauze out and gently use salt water. Don’t swish just let us settle and move your head in slow circles and tilts. Do not touch the area with your tongue. Do not vigorously swish for at least 2 or 3 days. You basically want the clot to form a white or cream colored plug. It’s granulation tissue. So if you really want to be safe and still smoke, cover the hole with gauze for 3 days. And yes a new gauze every cig, food, and drink.

This is exactly how I do it also. I just had a bottom molar extraction 2 days ago. I have had a dry socket from a previous extraction years ago and it is sooo painful!! I use a gauze get it wet and gently bite down and take small drags off a cig I also cut the filter so it’s easier and I don’t have to draw as hard to smoke. Great advice!

I just had a molar pulled on the bottom right side of my mouth. Have also had about 6-7 teeth pulled over the years. Every time I have had an extraction, I have always just covered the area with damp gauze and smoked literally an hour after the extraction. You have to hit the cig very very lightly. No sucking! Never have had dry socket or any issues. After you smoke cig, take out gauze. Anytime you smoke, cover area with new, clean, damp gauze. I've never waited more than an hour after extraction before smoking a cig and/or some bud. Good luck

I haven't gone an entire day without a cigarette since I was a kid. I smoked both times I got wisdom teeth pulled. First time was fine, but second time I had a dry socket. (It was fine once I went back and they put something down in there, BUT I don't wanna go through that again.) You have helped me out a lot!

Linguini 21 just take it very easy as its still a gamble though also try to use a rig that can induce a load of air so you have more air than canna smoke or you will risk pulling your bloodclot off and causing dry socket. feel free to ask me any questions you wish and i will try my very best to answer them to the best of my knowledge but as you saw me say above i went home and finished half my joint as i had to leave it to jog to the dentist in time and then i needed a fresh one so rolled a nice fat bifter and it does help with coping with stress and pain tolerance too plus it cheered me up a little bit as i over stress out so damn easily probably because i am so used to smoking bud on a daily.

My dentist., who is an avid smoker, told me a very good trick to smoke after tooth extraction and here is the trick: wet a piece of gauze, place over extraction sight, clinch gently, take slow long drags, when finished remove and replace gauze....

When I was still a smoker and had my wisdom teeth extracted. I used a shop vac, a bong and would draw the smoke into the bong with the shop vac and then breathe gentle inhaling the smoke from the bong bottle. Since it is the negative pressure and suction that causes the dry socket to begin with. Drinking milkshakes through straws etc can cause the same condition. I know this is kind of a crazy solution but it worked great haha

Read online about dry socket when I got home, went a little crazy frightened, threw my half pack of smokes away. This is such an old video but found this now. Got my wisdom teeth taken out over 72 hours ago and just started smoking again, very carefully and gently. Used nicotine patches at first but they just don’t do the job. Been reading medical journals too and you can see the increase in likelihood of a dry socket with the amount of cigarettes smoked and how early you start smoking post surgery. But in one study something stood out to me, 2 smokers started smoking over a pack a day on day 3 and didn’t get any dry sockets. They were outliers and just got lucky I guess but that made me laugh. Its good to not smoke as much as possible until you’re fully healed, but sometimes it’s just up to god 😂

Really as long as you dont take too hatd of a hot you will be good just make sure you use a saltwater rinse 24 hrs after the extraction to clean it and also you have to swish the saltwater in your mouth very lightly as ato any type of suction on the extraction sit will cause dry socket. Even drinking through a straw

The bigger point is not how likely the dry socket may occur. Dry socket is a very serious complication. So, if there is something behaviorally that can be done to reduce the chances of this developing it should absolutely be done. If you're really curious check out some more videos. It's not something you want to happen. It is extremely painful. Additionally, your jawbone can become infected. It's not worth the chance.
