11 days before Dallas. I read once that they had shown some of this footage, including JFK with the horse, to the Democratic Convention audience in 1964 prior to his brother Robert Kennedy appearing to make a speech. I cannot imagine how heartrending that was.

Such poignant films. Thank you so much for sharing these. They have the power of simultaneously giving joy and melancholy at the same time. It looks like they were experiencing Indian summer like weather that weekend and figuratively the Nation was experiencing it as well but no one imagined the coming dark deed that was just over a week away.

I read she was surprised when she saw how perfectly he saluted at the funeral because his salutes had always been kind of "sloppy" and funny, as you'd expect from a 2 yr old.

His tan still showed in Dallas. In fact a newsman commented on it when they landed in Love Field. He said “I can see his suntan all the way from here”. So heartbreaking 💔

she got thrown off plenty of times due to reporters springing up behind bushes and logs and snapping photos, scaring the death out of the horse and throwing Jackie right off Jackie would just get up every time and shrug it off like nothing happened Because of how experienced a rider Jackie was, it basically was like nothing had happened

According to bios President Kennedy was allergic to horses so that could be the reason why he was never seen riding. But Ted Kennedy said he tried, often in vain, to get up early enough in the morning when he was young so he could ride with his father Ambassador Joe Kennedy.
