@Cecil Williams You think so? I've got a quadcopter with 2216, 4s and 9" props, it's unbelievably really crazy optimised and it weights only 1kg. It flies 1h exactly. And getting this result wasn't even near to "easy". Trust me, I perfectly know how to build an endurance quad suitable for long range. You basically fight for every gram of excessive useless weight (useless in terms of flight time - everything except the battery, props and motors).
@index77875 жыл бұрын
@@WRXMSK Edit: I'm an idiot, disregard almost all of this, I own my mistakes, no delete. Dude, I'm pushing 2 hours (1 hour 56 mins at cruising speed) for my custom tricopter. They are significantly more efficient. And I disagree, I make aerial-photography rigs, and have made fpv quads of many sizes that can reliability hit a couple mins over an hour, it's not hard. I have an hex that can carry a 6 pound camera/gimbal for 52 mins, hovering. It's really not that hard. The record is well over 2 hours now.
@Cult10225 жыл бұрын
@@WRXMSK with a tricopter you have the option of a less powerhungry propulsion system, because you have the tilt rotor and don't need to spin two up and the others need braking. I think there his long flighttime comes from.

On a more sadder note I lost my one and only windestal creation. That little tricopter got a lot of attention in any given RC field since its weird to see a tricopter competing with quads. I can say nothing yaws like a tricopter. Most people who ask wtf is that gets turned off about the servos needed for the build. And that was the one that prevented me from making my tricopter my main quad. Lol🥴 concord back window 😂 music backdrop was genius. Anyways I plan to rebuild my tricopter any thing to you can imagine that I can do to protect the servo? Or maybe build a Y4 tricopter. @@KnowledgePerformance7 This is just my opinion, but with a 3in or 4in tricopter, you lose most of the LR capability, it won't fly for much longer than a quad. Smaller builds that use the 65mm props on the other hand can fly for a relatively long time. The only problem would be the electronics and an adequately sized servo. A 3in or 4in tricopter would still be loads of fun though, and certainly unique in a sky full of 5in quads.

With one less motor, a tri is more weight efficient than a quad, flying them is an aquired taste and not for everybody, as tuning the tailservo and getting the general set-up right is more complicated than the RTF quads, specially the quads that 'everybodies granny' can fly with the gps and altitude hold. The manufacturers favour quads at the moment, as do the developers of flight controller software. Software for tricopters is written/adapted by a few dedicated tricopter pilots, who don't need to make a living out of it...

Hey David, when you tell us to cut the wires a certain length, and then they DON'T FIT, THANKS. the 80 mm/ 60mm for the ESC's is wrong, if I soldered them to the board that way one of the wires will have a bow in it. and the the length of the front motor wires is too short, I'm going to have to lower the PDB so there is enough wire to use ty-raps on the wires inboard of the ESC's. so what happened?!!! mike

I love my Maker Knife! Funny story about it. I heard the RC Afterhours podcast what you were on a while back and talking about the knife. You talked me right into wanting one because it sounded cool and I wanted to support your project. I was disappointed that the production run was sold out and you weren't sure if there would be another run. I can't remember if I even went online to look for it or simply decided that I missed the opportunity. Anyway, about 3 or 4 weeks later I received a package from a name I didn't recognize. I opened it and after a few moments of being puzzled by the oddly labeled box inside the padded envelope I realized it was my Maker Knife! I completely forgot that I had ordered one from Kickstarter months before - doh! I was so excited that I handed my phone to my wife so she could record my first ever unboxing video. The knife is awesome. I got the silver color and ceramic blades (which are as awesome as you said). The finish on the knife is spectacular. I appreciate it even more after hearing about the issues you had with the factory meeting your qualify standards. Your pursuit of perfection was well worth it. BTW, what's up with the steel blades on your knife? After filming the unboxing video I told my wife she was not allowed to use the knife. It actually started quite a an argument because she didn't think I trusted her to be careful with it. The next day we were in the garage cutting down boxed and she dropped one of my many other utility knives on the concrete floor. She looked at me and smiled admitting that I was right to ask her not to use the Maker Knife. There's no replacement for quality tools. Thanks for your effort and insistence on top quality. The tool I have owned the longest is an old school metal Swiss Army Knife with the waffle pattern sides that my father gave me when I was about 9 years old. That was 35 years ago. I think this knife will be sitting next to that one in my tool chest 35 years from now. I can't wait to see what you come up with next.
