2020, Ireland trip to Corrib and Conn probably going to be cancelled. Watching Davie tie flies is a kind of therapy, loved this pattern.

Hi David, you're an excellent fly tyer. Claudio and I live in Mendoza - Argentina. I have seen almost all your videos and really are very good, very similar to insects that exist in the area and have had very good catches with your imitations. I would like to ask you a question, what is the brand of your tying vise? I can not find on the Internet Many Thanks

Hi Davie, I was wondering, I have a Picric dyed cape do you think it would be a good sub for the light olive ,dyed hackle you have used here?? the thing is, it appear it may be brighter than the cape you have used here but it does have a lovely light sheen. PS watch you videos all the time..great tips for tying better flies. Thank you

Another great tying Davie, thanks for all your brilliant videos. Davie, what leader set up do you use when fishing buzzers, ie, flourocarbon? Droppers? Dropper Knots? I have terrible problems when i try to use them, like the flourocarbon always ends up looking like a coiled spring and the droppers are lassoed around my main leader. Maybe I should use a heavier breaking strength? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Cheers Andy

Did you use the stabilize feature Davie? It'll take a few hours to return to normal. Its a great looking fly anyway! Best Regards, ~David

Davie when you are using seals fur do you use it straight out the bag or do you prep it in any way i.e do you rinse or chop it up the reason I'm asking is I'm having a bit of trouble dubbing it properly as there is always loads of long straggly bits left hanging out all over the place although I know it's good practice to tease out some fur my flies are ott. Cheers Marc

I wanted to ask this question for a while so here it goes: do Irish style wet flies meant for lakes like this one also work on rivers on a swing for example? Thanks in advance for your answer Best Myroslav
@DavieMcPhail6 жыл бұрын
Hi Myroslav, They are normally fished in the lochs but they would fish in the rivers just as well especially the Dabbler patterns for trout sea trout and salmon... All the very best Davie..

Hi Davie I'm Doug from Tasmainia Australia are your trout pattens suitable for our trout here. I'm very new to fly fishing and hope you can help.
@DavieMcPhail8 жыл бұрын
Hi Doug Crowhurst, Yes you can use many of the flies I tye in the videos although it would be worth finding out what flies fish best in the waters you intend fishing, then you can give the flies I tye a go as it always pays to have something different when things are not working.. All the very best Davie

@RockHavenFarm12 жыл бұрын
Do you know of any conversion charts for hooks? It can be a little confusing when your standing there looking a hundreds of hooks and the don't have the exact one your looking for.

Hi Davie, I've searched high up and low down but I can't find that ''Honey Olive'' seals fur, well to the same colour as the one you're using, anywhere. Have you a source for it or did you dye it yourself. If so, is there any chance you could let me know which dyes/ratio of dyes you used and what base colour of seals fur you used. Thanks
@DavieMcPhail9 жыл бұрын
Hi Slick Roode, The easiest way to get a honey olive is to blend seals fur in cinnamon or light ginger to an olive which will warm it up, I do this more now than I used to as the dyes change all the time and getting the colour right can take a bit of messing around...I hope this helps you in some way... All the very best Davie
@SlickRoode9 жыл бұрын
I'll give that a try. Thanks for replying.
