The performance improvement is huge. At least for me... The scrubbing is 100% fluent now with Nikon nraw 8k 60p clips on my windows laptop with nvidia rtx gpu. It was not that bad before, but it wasn't 100% smooth.

Did I miss it or did you not mention the (I think huge) addition to the Deliver tab - Audio Normalization! I find it helps so much to find the true peak and loudness for KZbin so they don't have to compress my footage. But I would like help to know the different settings! Great video!

I don’t think I mentioned it here, but yes that’s new as well. For the most part I wouldn’t recommend using it although I haven’t tried it out too much. Typically I do all my audio work and make sure my loudness is in a good spot before I ever get to rendering out the project. Where I think this would be a little bit better is if you were to, set your project up for something like KZbin and then you want to also deliver for something like Netflix or Disney or something else, then I think it would do a good job changing the overall loudness for you. I’ll have to run some test with it and see how it works.

Hi Jason, great overview of the new features in version 19. I love your videos, you have a way of explaining things really well. I have an older computer, and it seems that my playback with version 19 is really slow and lagging. I have tried running my resolution at 1/4, but it's still bad. (Was previously running at 100). It appears that version 19 does not allow my Nvida geforce 720 to run in CUDA mode. (Now only allows Open CL), I'm guessing that this has made the difference. I may have to go back to version 18. Any advice?? Keep up the great videos.😀

Hi Jason, great video, as always. Thank you. Since you cover Audio, and BlackMagic might listen to you, I have one idea for how to really simplify editing when you have several different music tracks under your video. Imagine a timeline with a two video montages, each with a different piece of music under them. I'd love for BlackMagic to add a feature to lock a music clip in the timeline, so it would not respond to edits, other than moving with the linked clip in the timeline. This would save having to turn on and off the 'Auto Track Selector' function for each Music track as you edit in different parts of the timeline. (If you are editing the clips above the first music clip, you have to turn off the Auto Track Selector for that music track, but leave it on for the music associated with the second montage. But you have to remember to turn on the Auto Track Selector for the music track for the second montage to make sure that music moves to stay connected to the video clips in the second montage. Remembering to turn on and off the Auto Track Selectors like this is a major pain. Final Cut Pro solved this with their magnetic timeline, and it's the one feature of Final Cut Pro that I really miss when using Resolve. I hope my description above is clear. If you have influence with BlackMagic, I'd love to have them hear and understand the value of this feature request. I have put it in the forums before and not heard back from them.

Oooooh, exclusive solo, now *that’s* helpful, that setting has been sorely missed - was that even in the release notes? If only they could show the waveform change on the timeline when adding compression and how the compressor affects the loudest and quietest parts so we could see the actual results, and well as displaying the effect of using makeup gain :)

I need help after updating, I cant use the newly added fusion titles. it just went black once added to the timeline on the edit page. The inspector has the fusion title name on it but unable to open example "Comic Titles" but not able to open the settings at all. Please tell us if you have such an encounter

The only thing I can think of is to double check that the color/fusion bypass isn't turned off. It's a circle icon, rainbow color above the viewer in the edit page.

​@@JasonYadlovski thank you Jason, turns out that was not it, but i manage to find out that some of the of 3rd party plugin were the issue. After uninstalling the older 3rd party plugin the fusion text/transition/effects were working flawlessly. I try reinstallling the plugins but sadly it causes davinci resolve studio to not work smoothly after the update. needing to give up the plugins. In my case it is free plugin, what happens if they are paid plugin. Is there a fix to this?

Hey! It should work, I’ve used it before and just took a look, you can see the buses towards the bottom of the list when you’re using the side chain inside of the dynamics panel.

Hi, when i want to check a track loudness without having to listen to the whole thing, i know there's the "analyze audio levels" thing, but when i apply compressior or other effects that affect volumen, it doesnt pick it up, how do i do it

Ideally, you’re going to check your audio levels by looking at the meters, this is not the same as loudness. The loudness of a particular track doesn’t matter, loudness is a measure of everything together at the end of the process.

@sleepsoundly4728 loudness itself is a measurement over time, there is a graph in Fairlight that you can see on your main Bus 1. Just make sure the automation controls are on and then you can see the graph and see where your levels are at. You can also see the loudness in the loudness meter along the top of the screen and fair light next to the viewer. I do have a video about loudness and how to measure it and see it if you’re interested in checking it out.

I've got an idea to try - if you have the studio version. I'm assuming your gameplay and your talking are in the same track. I'd place the audio on 2 tracks. On one of the tracks, use voice isolation to isolate the voice. On the other track, use the remixer tool to remove the voice and keep only the background gameplay sounds. I think that might work. I'm going to try and see if I can make that work with some footage I'll make.
