Great tutorial mate. Just one feedback @ 34:26 I had to click on the timecode before entering -1.Enter. Clips wouldn’t move if I don’t select the timecode first. Anyways thanks a mil for sharing. Learned a lot today :D

I've found that it's hit and miss. Normally, you should NOT have to click into the T/C field. If there's a clip selection, typing in a positive or negative value will in fact work.

great intro into fairlight - thank you! i still love nuendo for audio work - but being able to remain in davinci is too tempting not to give fairlight a try :-)

one question: I am about to build my own music database and sound FX database in Davinci and use these databases with the Sound Library feature. Do you have any idea, how to change or apply "DESCRIPTION" to imported files? That way i could search for keywords applied to each file to my taste. cheers !!

does the Fairlight page allow any usability with the Speed Editor? I do a lot of long audio interviews and would love to be able to use the jog wheel to speed up my audio work. (I also do a lot of video work, which is my main use for DR)

I purchased the Zoom F8N pro. It like a number of other audio recording device. Record in 32bit Float. The 3 pro apps deal with 32bit gloat but unfortunately FCPX & logic doesn’t. I’m very much interested in a tutorial using Fair light using & taking advantage of this audio recording feature.

32 bit float does work in FCP and has since 10.4 - but Fairlight is awesome, and I definitely recommend learning it - so many useful sound tools

I could not for the life of me get Resolve to record my voice even though Mac OS was registering sound from the built in camera on my Thunderbolt Display. All my recorded tracks were silent and I double-checked the patch and previous steps. I'll try later with an actual mic.

My issue had to do with privacy settings, so now Resolve can see the microphones. Anyway this is a good intro to Fairlight, so thanks for this. The tone sound was extremely loud to me though, definitely not raising the end part of that +5db (I lowered it 20db instead). Us old guys gotta watch out for tones like that if there's a chance of younger people watching. Sometimes if I have a CRT television on in the room I'm shooting in and I forget to add a low pass filter in post, the younger set will get very annoyed with the CRT whine that I can't hear, especially when it keeps cutting to slightly different volumes as the edited scene plays.
