Hi, can I ask how's the roof holding up now? I'm considering using Davinci but has heard reporting of it being faulty after a few years.
@askthebuilder Жыл бұрын
The roof is in perfect condition. It looks BETTER than the day I installed it as it looks more like dusty real slate. I estimate my roof will last somewhere between 75 and 100 years.

Quick question? Can you use a nail gun? Or old school hamme ?
@askthebuilder Жыл бұрын
Easy. When you went to the DaVinci website and downloaded the installation instructions, what did they say??????
@gokomets777 жыл бұрын
Wonder if they could be used to repair exsisting slate roofs? Also what about spanish tile options too?
@askthebuilder7 жыл бұрын
Your wondering will cease when you contact DaVinci and ask them.

To answer your question, no. This ask the builder guy doesn't know how to answer the question because he's generally just ignorant.

Tim... is there any issue with using DaVinci tiles or shakes with a continuous ridge vent??
@askthebuilder4 жыл бұрын
There is none. For future reference, there is only *ONE* place you should go for the answer to a question like this. DaVinci - Just download their installation manual and see what *THEY* say about how to integrate things like ridge vent and other flashings. Watch video #5 of this series to see what I did.

Tamko used to make synthetic slate, but they closed that department after their slate starting failing. We actually installed a 40 square roof with their product, only to come back 10 yrs later to replace it with a different manufacturer synthetic slate. Nothing beats original slate because it has been proven to last, specially the s1 kind with proper installation will outlast not just you but your kids too. I hope your slate retains its beauty but only time will tell! By the way, your videos are nice 👍🏼.

It pays to make things right. My DaVinci roof looks even BETTER than when I finished as the virgin polymer has dulled just a tad making the shingles look like dusty matte-finished real slate. For unlimited free tips each week subscribe to my FREE newsletter at www.AsktheBuilder.com

@@askthebuilder Tim, I'm just wondering how these are holding up after 8+ years? I'm seriously looking at installing these on my home but I haven't seen many reviews after 10 or more years. Thanks.

Looks like different lot numbers on your roof. It varies in color shade
@askthebuilder2 жыл бұрын
It's not. Could be white balance off in the video camera or just shading or auto iris settings. It's ALL ONE shade and looks superb.

@@askthebuilder it's just that I have put a couple thousand square down of that exact brand and to me it is the cheapest and most poorly built of all the synthetic slates. First of all it is a hollow back design. Moderne slate made in Michigan is the single best synthetic slate far superior in every aspect to DaVinci.
@danielk89262 жыл бұрын
@@askthebuilder as to my qualifications to make these comments I am an NRCA nationally certified trainer. I am a licensed roofer of 33 years experience. The cost on DaVinci's is extremely prohibitive to your average customer. For a lower price you can buy a better brand of synthetic slate.
