I see exposed nail heads in the water lines. That not an issue with these things?

@@askthebuilder 0:43 exposed nail head

@@one7decimal2eight Ahhhhh! Great eye! I just went out and checked the roof. Those are the fill point marks where the dies accept the polymer injection. It's actually very interesting as on a few you can still see the strings of plastic where the nozzle was pulling back from the die.

@@askthebuilder I can see what you mean now. It's the same color as the shingle so that makes sense. Looked like a nail head to me when I saw the camera pass by.

I was wondering if using the line-x product over the asphalt shingles would be a good/ bad idea?
@watchmenpropertyinspection34695 жыл бұрын
it looks like each shingle has at least 1 exposed nail (also no roofing tar on these nails). Have you had any leaks in the attic at these areas?
@askthebuilder5 жыл бұрын
There are no exposed nails. Well, that's a lie. There are four exposed trim nails in the LAST cap shingle on each side of the roof. Why would you think there would be exposed nails? I can't imagine why you'd think that.
@watchmenpropertyinspection34695 жыл бұрын
@@askthebuilder in between the 2 shingles (where they meet). At the top just barely under the overlapping shingle. You can see them in your video. A silver circular object that I assumed was a nail. Do you see it? If it's not a nail then what is it?

@@watchmenpropertyinspection3469 i also noticed an exposed nail between two shingles. Not good.

I thought that I saw an exposed nail. However... At the :43 second mark there looks to be a nail between two tiles. That is the casting mark on the tile itself. You can see that mark "dead center" of the tile when it is being cut at the 1:54 mark.@@watchmenpropertyinspection3469

Why don't someone make a connection in a ridge vent for the plumbing vent ?. Save a hole in the roofing .
@askthebuilder8 жыл бұрын
+shannon james - It's not required. Plumbing vents, installed with the flashing I use, NEVER leak. Installing a plumbing vent pipe at the ridge would not be aesthetically pleasing and it's a waste of pipe.CLICK the following link to purchase the BEST plumbing vent flashing known to man or woman: www.askthebuilder.com/lifetimetool-plumbing-vent-flashing/

Ask the Builder I think he was referring to a type of vent that plugged into the ridge vent but does not go through the roof. A combination vent is what I believe he was trying to describe. You would not see any pipe, as it would vent through the ridge vent. I will check out your plumbing vent flashing. Those cheap oatley ones all fail after 10-15 years and should be outlawed. It is my personal belief that all roofing components should be chosen so that they fail roughly at the same time so when one starts to fail you replace the whole roof and not have to fix or repair components piecemeal.

Do you even know what type of plastic they are made from? Probably not...

Yeah Dan, I probably don't know. I'm just some bumpkin and you're all-knowing. ;-) How about you make a video telling us about the polymer chemistry of DaVinci shingles and then upload it. Once you do that, please come back here and share the URL.
