Glad you enjoyed it, Mrs Amaechi. It was a beautiful town and area, but it's hurting. Tourism is way down as you can see from the mostly empty streets. This was filmed in August and there should have been many more people. We've been there in the past and it's been booming. There just isn't enough business to be open during the week. Sadly, that's the biggest source of income in the area. We believe it's mostly covid related and hopefully will improve soon! Thanks so much for watching!

The surname Hyde, is a very important surname in England which belongs to a very old family. There was a famous Hyde called - Edward Hyde, 1st Earl of Clarendon. So the surname has good beginnings. We loved it in Davis and enjoyed your stream with the Brit Girls a lot. It's interesting you mention Edward Hyde, 1st Earl of Clarendon. There was another Edward Hyde who was the first governor of the North Carolina colony here. He was related to the 1st Earl of Clarendon you mention. I have absolutely nothing that would tie my family though to either. My ancestor Henry Hyde was from close by in Kentucky though. He would have been born about 100 years after the North Carolina governor died.

The Davis, Thomas area is a beautiful area. West Virginia is a gorgeous state! You broke our "Cheesehead" hearts though when you told us the Beer Barrel Polka was from there though!

I wonder how the shops survive being open just on weekends. This is a lovely town. At least the shops were closed but not closed and empty as many shops had to do during covid One of the most beautiful towns down the coast from me called Knysna where I was recently was in the position that so many shops were closed but on the positive the shops and restaurants that was open was super busy

Covid really did a number on tourism here. We were really surprised and saddened on this trip. The area while beautiful doesn't have much else going. The businesses in this area are really hurting along with those employed there. Many have closed permanently. Tourism is picking up here now though. Hopefully the area will return to normal!
