Playing a goblin artillerist artificer right now actually. Lived a life in slavery, found himself as an indentured servant as a shipwright on a pirate crew. He was working off his freedom and haul to buy his own ship when they were sunk by a rival pirate crew. Falling unconscious and sinking, he let himself drift to sleep. The last thing he saw was a silhouette diving after him. He woke up on the a tattoo on his chest that bound his soul to one of the ship cannons.

BooYag!? Is a word they "reserve" for "thing's they don't understand", "things that go BOOM!!!", And magic in general. But the way Goblins tier the importance of things will end up with "magic in general" never coming up. If they saw magic their mind might even run it through a mental processing program thinking about the magic and it's value to them. They would likely start by seeing the BooYag and say "BooYag!?!" Cause they are confused, not every time Because while Goblins don't have Logos (logic and reason) they do have education and understand. So they learn. If they already know the magic they will call it "BOOYAG!!!" cause they know it hurts others and or explodes. If it isn't as interesting magic like Wish, polymorph, true Resurrection, ect... They will call it "booyag" because they have the Goblins name things based on their motivations.

God I love goblinoids, my favorite character I've made was a Bugbear Barbarian named Gruak who swore an other to another member of the party named Klug, a goblin bard, and served as the tiny guys body guard. This was an evil campaign which ended up turning more into a mixture of horrible evil deeds and ridiculous comedy as every time we did something (ambush a caravan successfully for example) Klug would add whatever we just did to his "Royal title" he ended up being known as Klug to All-Powerful, taker of caravans, Conqueror of towns, Taker of secrets, Tamer of beasts etc etc.

Our DM made us fight Trogdor the Burninator as the final boss for our first story and we made it canon that a metal band of goblins was playing his theme song. Ever since then a band of goblins has been following the party around playing all the background music (ranging from metal, to orchestra, to jazz, to freaking rap) and I love it. _The band leader's gonna be my next playable character._

I watched this to get some extra goblin lore for my upcoming game and it helped alot! on that note I am most likely the most dangerous member of the group as a ranged fighter with sharpshooter and proficiency in stealth means I can pull a rogue by starting off hidden then fire off a bunch of sharpshooter attacks with advantage then using my bonus action to hide again!

Last week my party faced some nilbogs in a one shot, we had to develop a specific anti nilbog fighting style which involved my tank running past it, taking an attack of opportunity, while the rest of the party tried to make the charisma save to attack it. If it has its reaction it's pretty much indestructible, so getting it to burn its reaction attacking me was the focal point of the plan.

Took me until just recently to make a more typical goblin character (Bonker, called that because she likes bonking people on the head and likes it when others declare interesting stuff hers by stating "that's Bonker's"... who got into archaeology from trying to find a way of escaping her irrational fear of owls without looking scared - which was running into a dungeon). She also likes to smash up museums since in her mind dead people don't want their belongings locked away in a tomb or display case, they want them put back into actual use. My other two are Virtue Resplendence, the self-declared representative of the inherent good of all free goblinkin, born (and immediately abandoned) on Pandemonium to a pair of visiting nilbogs and herself relentlessly optimistic and utterly devoid of any sense of ambition realism (she quests to ultimately overthrow Maglubiyet), and Rendalph Slouch, a gentleman scholar obsessed with having a neatly styled moustache, being the very best elite pikeman and charming the inhibitions off upper-class romantic persuits, who is against such 'vulgarities' as booyahg. Magic's fine... that stuff the humans and the dwarves and elves do - that's potentially sophisticated. But booyahg? Ugh, so common. No evil goblins yet. Maybe I'll make one someday, but I'm not fond of the idea of "evil campaigns", so my evil characters want to be the kind who could actually effectively adventure with any random group, and thus I don't make many.

I actually made a wizard recently that isn't just a giant book nerd: Mogdagg "The Great" goblin fighter 2/wizard x, srt 16, dex 14, con 13, int 16, is 11, cha 15. Mogdagg was a goblin hunter of some tribe that one day got captured during a raid by a wizard that was an overly fervent supporter or Raei (the Goddess of forgiveness). She thought she could get some morals into Mogdagg, so she took him with her to her institute and taught Mogdagg morals, ethics and magic. Mogdagg was smart enough to pretend to be a good boy and meanwhile learnt everything he could about the Booyahgs so he could become chief later on. after a few years of this, the wizard told Mogdagg something along the line of that he was a real wizard now, prompting Mogdagg to find for a way out. So, one day when he and the wizard were camping somewhere in the wild, he slit the wizard's throat, stole her spellbook and component belt and set off to find a tribe to take over. Now, he roams the land with a few goblins (knight background, so they act like retainers) and sets traps and shit. the real fun bit is that he has heavy armour and a shield, the war caster feat, practices war magic and always casts mirror image. That means that he has 19 to 21 AC, combined with the mirror image and a presumed +5 to enemy attack rolls, that results in a 6,25% chance of him taking any damage. Feel free to steal :)

Then you have the other sub groups of the basic goblins. The big one being the Blues, who end up with some intrinsic power and a mental boost...in past editions it was the psionic variant of the goblin. Most tribes tend to either have Blues or Booyag as their "magical" support. The other is the Bhoukah, who hint that there is another surviving goblin deity out there, one of survival and the wilds, and is more of a nature deity and the Bhoukah have their own tribes, often in deserts and other inhospitable places away from others and they are neutral to good aligned...they at least appeared in 3.5 from Sandstorm and had a few mentions since then.
