Do you think Dawn Robinson was the real problem or was Raphel Saadiq really the reason for the break up?

Lucy Pearl still one of my favorite albums. Yes I can listen to it front to back. Too bad they only had one album together

I FEEL THAT DAWN THOUGHT SHE MADE THE GROUP, JUST LIKE ENVOGUE

I'm undecided on Dawn Robinson. She is the lead for both En Vogue and Lucy Pearl, but that can also lead to problems. I think in all fairness, the same can be said for Raphel Saadiq

So if he had so much control, shaped the sound, and created a legendary smash album, then tell me where he was wrong and how doing anything different would have led to a better result? It literally was one of the greatest group first records of the time. From an artist perspective like Dawn's, I could get the frustrations from a creative perspective, but there is creative integrity balanced with the fact that this is a business. Now on the financial side of things, you cannot blame others for the fact that you chose not to read, understand, and properly negotiate your contract. If she were a first time artist, I get it, you often sign, just to get out there. You have very little leverage and you might get a raw deal. Each side of a contract is fighting for a deal that best suits them unfortunately, but you need to push back and push for what you think is right for you. She should have learned this from the En Vogue days. She has an unmistakable, once in a generation, magical voice that is undeniable along with success and a brand. She failed at the negotiation table, but could have sorted both the business side and creative side over time before album two. But she needs to take accountability for forgetting the business side of this and properly doing her due diligence before signing that contract and instead of putting everyone on blast, she should have learned from her mistake, got in a room and plotted a better course with Raphael. This was fixable and they could have knocked out several hit records and made a catalog to tour on. Now she has been part of two supergroups, still have an insane voice and abilities, but is vocal, battered, and broke and cannot tour with either of her history making groups. Poorly played Dawn, but I saw that coming 20 years ago when you were bitching to anyone who would listen versus getting your business in order behind the scenes.
