Day 1 Cover

Happy 2025, its a new year and I will be starting it off by taking part in #junkjournaljanuary once again. This is hosted by ‪@megjournals‬ and its a great way to get our creativity flowing. This year I will be working in a tag booklet I created from some paper bags and I will be trying to use up as many scraps as possible. The prompt today was Cover and I took that literally by creating the cover of my booklet. I am not overly happy with the outcome but that is ok, I am sure by the end of the month I will have fixed that. Bel, this year I spent new years with Covid. I have all my vaccinations and boosters but it is still kicking my butt. Thank you for the idea of a tag book. Really makes the entire process easier. As soon as I get some oompha I will do the same. My goal for this year is to create every day and travel. I know create every day is massive but there are so many ways to create-a new flower arrangement for the changing season, planting the seeds for herbs a vegetables, processing plums, peaches and salsa, snippet rolls, pockets, polymer clay, and on and on and so forth. Belumbo strikes again!

I am so sorry to hear that you have been so ill, what a horrible way to spend the new year. I hope you feel better soon. I think you goal to create every day is a wonderful one and as you said there are so many ways to interrupt that. I am being more creative with my wardrobe at the moment. I tend to pair the same items of clothing up all the time so I am trying out some new pairings. Not only is it fun but it making my wardrobe feel refreshed without needing to add new items. 😊

Always love your creations Bel ! I think I might give this challenge a go when I get home!❤❤ i'm visiting my daughters in california and had a very quiet evening, with all of us retiring before midnight. I avoided the war zone that happens where I live on the island of maui. People start with very loud bomb like sounds and fireworks, well, before new year's eve and continues on for the next week!🤯🥴The night of new year's eve is particularly disturbing and truly feels like you're in a war zone with smoke in the air and the house rattling and shaking with the bomb like explosions that are going off in the neighborhood.😡 It's truly horrible, and disturbing for humans and animals alike. Happy new year lovely lady. I love your tradition of saying goodbye to the old year at the back door and hello, to the new year at the front door! I think I might have to start doing that! You have become my go to creator to keep me company while I work on my journals. Thank you for that!🌺💕🙋‍♀️

I wasn't planning on sharing BuJu process. Considering I am a crafter my bullet journals tend to be very simple as I find they work better for me that way. However if you are really interested I may share one of my monthly buju preparations at some point 😊

Happy New Year Bel. I worked till just after 9pm and just wanted to come home and sleep, because I had to work again bright and early this morning. However, the freaking fire works started at about 9pm and went until about 1am. Ugh, I was so irritated and got only a few good hours of sleep. Anyway, done complaining like a grumpy old lady 😂. It's Summer here in Australia so we spent New Year's Eve at our favourite beach and then watched the local fireworks display. It's on at 9pm for the kids over here 🙄 but then watched the Sydney Harbour Bridge fireworks at midnight ... amazing!

What a great start😊. The cover and back on the journal I’ve made is of a very slick packaging. It’s gorgeous but I’m not sure if whatever I put on it would adhere well enough or slide right off.🤔 I like how you put the JJJ prompt title vertically on the cover. I think I will do that and see how it fares and add embellishments as they come to me. The inside front cover needs something. I think I will do something there…that counts as prompt 1, right?😉

Sand it with sandpaper or even a nail file. Or put some clear gesso on it if you don't want to change how it looks. Or just do what you're thinking and interpret the prompt your way!

@ I like the feel and texture of my cover, so I’m trying to figure out how to use whatever texture or embellishment with it. Maybe if I just use one or both of those options on a smaller portion….great suggestion though. Thanks!

Thank you and yes decorating the inside of your front cover definitely counts 😊. If you are wanting to keep the feel of the cover but want to also add a few bits have you though about using brads to attach stuff with or even just sanding the area you are adding the pieces to but leaving the rest untouched?

I have SO much tim holtz stuff I need to use 🙄. It’s hard since his stuff is kind of limited but there’s literally no point of having it stored away! You can look at it on the finished product! I need to work on using mine.

I used to feel the exact same way. It was so hard to get his stuff over here in the UK and while it is now a little easier to find it online it is still expensive and there never seems to be a lot of stock. I still have lots of his things that I picked up about 6 years ago when in America because I wanted to hoard it. However last year I made the decision to just use things up, after all I brought it to use in my projects and its just taking up space which is limited for me. It wasn't easy to start using some of my favourite things but now I am so happy I did as it brings me a lot of joy so I really encourage you to try using just a few pieces on some projects for yourself 😊

@ Yesss I’ve followed a few uk and eu creators who have said the same thing!! I get mine from the local craft store chains! I have no excuse. Other than the idea that he’ll discontinue it and we’ll never see it again looming over me 🤣 but that’s fine. Truthfully the past year or so I’ve been more focused on planning and other areas of journaling/collage/paper, so I feel less connected to it now. So now is the perfect time to dig it out and use it! Your vid has inspired me!
