A reminder to myself and others: "If you don't understand something, don't stop - just keep going! Memorise what you do know and keep moving forward with your studies." 🙂 Fortunately Nastya is such a good teacher, that I have understood well. Now it's up to me to be able memorise and have timely recall. That sums up the past 100 or so days. The real challenges are ahead. Good luck everyone! Many thanks to Nastya for her superb teaching method and dedication to her students.

I wish you could, dear Nastya, write the titles in cursive for those of us who enjoy it. Those who don't enjoy it, still know what the titles say because we have all had 105 lessons, and the titles pretty much say the same thing. They could be written in Chinese and we should all know, where it says root words , short story, etc. But cursive is helpful to those who do know a bit, and want to get more familiar with it. It doesn't really hurt anyone, but is helpful to those it is helpful to. And thank you for being a great teacher!

if you were to introduce cursive into the titles, then i think you should dedicate a new section for cursive in short and brief concepts. since we are already over 100 days into this type of lesson, then it is best to leave it out than change something mid-stream. you can separate cursive into a different lesson or section if necessary. i have already gone through your cursive lessons a year or two ago as well. maybe year two of these lessons can introduce cursive, but so far, these lessons are not there yet in terms of level. cursive titles would mess up new learners at this stage. lastly, this is another lesson which did not mention университет )) 😂👍 спасибо.

Thank you, Nastya, for your amazing lessons! You're the best teacher on KZbin. You asked about regular letters or cursive letters: I really prefer the regular letters. Cursive letters are confusing to beginners and also don't relate to how students would usually use the language (spoken, through a keyboard, etc.).

Sorry, this is o.t., but triggered by today's video... "Red Russian" or "Russian Red" is an heirloom tomato bread in New Zealand and available in the US. It is robust, tasty and quite big (up to one kilo in good years per fruit!). 70 days to maturity. Needs shelter from rain. When transplanting the seedling into a bigger pot, give them some phosphate (bone meal, potato starch from the kitchen, or similar). You have to trim most axillary shoots, otherwise you end up with a jungle and many immature fruits... "Black Krim" is also very good, smaller, but not yet stable. Mine was completely red.... The south of Siberia has many interesting varieties of tomatos!

Hi Lucky, I noticed you mentioned Russian Reds in the chat earlier this morning. I've enjoyed growing vegetables for many years. I have a vegetable garden that is envy of many. It's such a practical, rewarding thing to do. I love gardening in general. I have grown Russian Red. Lived for 12 years in a colder area of Oz and R.R's tolerate cooler temperatures (but there's no such thing as a short summer in Oz!) Beautiful type of tomato. I obtained the seeds through an Italian neighbour. Past 3 years I'm back to living at "edge of Outback" super hot, endless summers, however tomatoes of most varieties thrive in these conditions (as long as they don't get sunburnt). No R.R.s in my vege garden this year (the better suited Gross Lisse instead) however I do grow Black Russian. Black Russian is my mother's favourite tomato. The colour looks a bit strange to people who haven't seen them before (brownish/burgundy/green) and the flesh inside is the same. The tomato wins their hearts when they taste it! It looks particularly good amongst red and golden varieties of tomato in a salad. I originally obtained the Black Russian Heirloom seeds via an Australian Gardening Club known as "The Digger's Club" (I am a member). They specialise in Heirloom varieties of plants and seed-saving. I don't like the GMO plants. The Heirloom varieties are better and self-seed. As a member of T.D.C. I purchase seeds & bulbs at discount prices, however you don't have to be a member to buy from them. Self-seeding plants are great value! We usually save some seeds from a fruit and dry them on paper-towel for next year (and there are always baby plants that come up on their own and can be transplanted.) The best tomatoes and capsicums are from seeds that have already passed through a chicken! They grow superior to any other plant. 🙂

As a Teacher, I understand that you try to make things progressively more difficult for us to Learn, I think in Russia they always teach Cursive Writing in the Schools, but in the U.S. many of the High School and College Students do not know how to Read Cursive. I can read Cursive so it really doesn't bother me if you want to write Cursive or not, but many Young people in the U.S. do not know how to Read Cursive. So I think maybe you should save the Cursive Writing for the Advanced Course you will probably do After the 365 Course 😁

I like how "она (feminine) хорошИЙ (masculine) специалист (invariable)", with хорошИЙ in masculine, despite the fact of being about a woman, is so natural in Russian that Nastia did some comments on the speling of хорошИЙ, but it didn't even crossed her mind to explain why хорошИЙ should be in masculine.

If one wants to use a dictionary for Russian, one has to be able to read the cursive letters as well as no normal Cyrillic letters. Usually the explanations are printed with cursive letters. So, if you like it or not, cursive Cyrillic letters belong to Russian as well as the normal ones..."m" cursive is a "t"...the most confusing one for me.

Спасибо за урок, Настя! 😊👍 I think it would be helpful if you continued to write in printed Cyrillic rather than cursive for the section headings. ☺️ Regarding the short story, for 'в Большой театр' at 24:37 when you said 'where? In a theatre Bolshoi', why is it not the spelling for prepositional case (в Большом театре)? Is this a different grammatical case when you say 'to' the theatre, rather than 'in' the theatre? On Wiktionary, apart from nominative case I can only find accusative case for the 'большой' spelling, for masculine inanimate, but I'm confused as to why it isn't prepositional case when there's the 'в' preposition. 🤔

When there is a movement (ехать, идти...) (question : куда?) в and на are used with accusative, and when not (быть...) (question : где?) with prepositional. I fail to see why the section headings (that you probably already know by heart by now) being in cursive should be a problem except if you don't plan at all, at some point, to learn cursive, which is not so difficult as it seems and quite fun to learn once you try. (sorry for my english, I'm French).
@TheRealMick
@TheRealMick Жыл бұрын
@@LaMitedanslaCaverne Thank you for your reply. I see now, the question is 'to where' rather than simply 'where'. Regarding the section headings, I know what they are, but for the sake of clarity, and to encourage the students who might be put off by the added level of awkwardness introduced by the appearance of illegible cursive handwriting at this beginner level, I think it's a good idea for Nastya to continue with printed Cyrillic throughout the lessons. Your English is excellent, by the way.

Cursive handwriting for the 9 titles of the sections is a good first step towards eventually changing the whole text. Ok, here is a question: So, after я вижу... we should have an object in accusative. As in your examples; я вижу твоего друга. (I see your friend). BUT... я вижу твой дом (I see your house). I have no problems understanding that animate male nouns have a different declension than inanimate male nouns. But, it appears that the modifier (adjective) also has a different declension. This applies not just to posessives but to all adjectives. Eg. Я видел старого соседа (I saw the old neighbour) and Я видел старый магазин (I saw the old shop). Basically, it appears to me that there is no male (or neuter) accusative case at all! If the object is inanimate we use the nominative case (instead of the accusative case) and if the object is animate we use the gentive case (instead of the accusative case). Is this correct?

When you get stuck like this, get into the habit of going straight to Wiktionary and you should be able to find everything you want to know quite quickly. Just do a Google search for the word in question plus 'Wiktionary' and it will be at the top of the search results. I do this quite frequently and it's great for finding additional information about various words Nastya uses in the lessons. Good luck with your studies!
@TheRealMick
@TheRealMick Жыл бұрын
Incidentally, I know why you got stuck. It's because Nastya has stopped writing the 'incorrect' nominative forms, then correcting them to the appropriate case spellings. I got stuck in a recent lesson for the same reason. Hopefully she will revert back to her previous method after reading people's comments, but as these lessons are recorded in advance, it will be a little while before any changes appear in the new lessons. Although Nastya didn't say the word was feminine, if you listen carefully you can hear her use the pronunciation of a feminine adjective with an -ая ending (маленькая), so you would know that its accompanying noun деревня is feminine. This was by no means clear though, so I understand your confusion.

@@TheRealMick Hey Mick, thank you for your comment. The thing is that I am a true beginner. I hardly knew the alphabet when I started, and now this course is turning to intermediate where people can check what they already know from previous courses. As you already know the meaning, I fail to see the problem? Of course, no one asks for the whole course to be in cursive just some headlines everybody already knows. As somebody else said, there is nothing there to lose. Consider it as an initiation (if you're serious in learning russian, you will have to face it one day or another) and for those who are interested, it's quite easy and fun to learn (only takes a few hours), absolutely nothing to be afraid of 😉. One way or another, it's OK for me as I already write and read whith ease, but why deprive others who might enjoy (or need) it of this opportunity?
