This is a top quality production... I like how you included Rob and the Dummies.

THANKS! I'm glad you liked it. I frequently compare notes on whiskies with other whisky tubers but this is the first time I ever included them in a video. Both Rob (Whisky in the 6) and Scotch Test Dummies gave me permission to use the clips,

I'm of the view that there's a place for all kinds of distilleries, big and small, opulent and modest, high-tech and old-fashioned in the whisky industry today. Walking into the new Macallan distillery complex certainly provides you with a feeling of perhaps entering a luxury hotel or perhaps an elite art gallery. It has that rarified atmosphere. That it, at the same time, represents a wonder of technology and a fascinating integration of a production facility into a rural green country environment, is also a factor you've got to admire. For those people who enjoy this ambient quality and are willing to pay for it, it's going to be a positive experience when they take a tour and do a tasting. For those who enjoy a simpler, smaller and more traditional experience at a more reasonable cost, it's not going to appeal. But each to his own. It's certainly going to inspire architects for years to come. As for the spirit it produces, we'll agree to wait and see. The first 12yo produced and matured entirely at the new facility will come online in 2030.

Thanks for the comments. In the year 2030 I'll be 64 years old. If I am still alive I'm not sure I'll remember what the original 12 year old tasted like. Maybe I should buy a bottle and hold on to it until 2030 so I can do a comparison?

Hi Erik, Many thanks for the great video. I was at the distillery a few days ago and I also had Graham as my tour guide! Not much to add to what you already said, it is a bit disneylandish but for me it was clearly one of the best tours of the 60 or so I had experienced so far. The very best one however was the unplanned and unpaid 2+ hour evening tour I had with a distiller on duty who had worked at Glenrothes for 41 years! Cheers, Doc

You've been to 60 distilleries in Scotland?! WOW! I hope to visit another 20 in July 2019 and perhaps another 20 in 2020.

@@ErikWaitWhiskyStudies I have visited even more distilleries, but I have taken actual tours at 60 or so. Example: My recent trip included 24 tours and 42 visits. Living in Frankfurt with a 2 hour flight to Glasgow, Edinburgh or Aberdeen makes my "Scotland life" a lot easier compared to you, Erik...

Thanks for the comments! One of the cons about visiting so many distilleries is that I was often in a hurry to get to my next distillery tour appointment. I took a lot of good pictures and video at Macallan but I wish I had more time as they had other things to see (such as an art gallery) that I had to pass up.

Sir you should lead a tour over to Scotland

In a sense, that is what I am doing with my videos. I am planning on returning to Scotland in July 2019 and visit another distilleries and then do it again in 2020. By then I will have visited 60 distilleries. There are about 130 distilleries in Scotland but not all of them are open to the public.
