New UK subscriber. Been exploring Keto/ Carnivore for past 3 months due to partners ill health in his 50's. After drastically reducing carbs / sugars, the transformation is dramatic. Previously constant fatique, severe weight loss, struggled with muscle pain, diverticulitis, low mood and constantly feeling the cold. Diverticulitis symptoms completely cleared now, gaining muscle weight, not fat, and today he's sprung out of bed to put Xmas deccis up like he's 20 again!! Oh and the lack of snoring is an added extra 🤣🤣

My trick for both tea and coffee was to add a VERY small piece of butter (as strange as that sounds). The oily element tricked my brain into thinking that there was milk and sugar in the cup. I now can only drink tea and coffee black, as you will prefer it without. You have so many on here supporting you. If you ever feel like you are going to have a wobbly day, do a live stream to chat to others. I know you have lots of friends that support you but it can be harder in the evenings when alone. Also, fire up your cricut machine, that will keep your grey cells ticking over. Good luck Rick, you have got this! 💪👍

Hello Rick, I would vote for longer videos. You might think it is rambling but it will be good to know your thought process too as you go through this..not just the final steps you take. For example it was interesting to see the way your brain was looking at those bacon strips. Also longer videos means we get to see more of your daily life, which for some reason is always interesting to watch:)

Hi Rick I subscribed yesterday via butlers empire channel. I started a Keto diet February 2023 after a very high average glucose reading of 14 mmols/L and a type 2 diabetes diagnosis. I ended up evolving into carnivore, losing 3 stones, reversing diabetes t2, and a lot of other things too. BUT, over Christmas disaster, and I put on one stone. Nearly all my symptoms came back. I’m glad to say I’m back on the diet/way of life and I’m gonna do it with your channel/Vlog, I’ve watched day 1 and and I’m on day 2 but I’m going to have to watch several of them to catch up.

Hi Rick, really interested in watching yr progress even tho ( as you know ) I’m in the other camp well balanced vegetarian diet. I’ve watched a couple of vids from your American doctor friend. He very rudely referred to vegans and vegetarians as unenlightened and misguided, while at the same time asking said people not to make comments 😮 Never mind that tho just amusing. I could not believe the number of different ready meal and delivery names you deleted from your phone, Just Eat , Dominoes etc etc there were quite a few. I won’t comment. 😂 Anyway seriously all the very best especially if it all helps your health issues. I’m looking forward to your camping vid you have lovely friends. xx

Rick well done on your lifestyle change. I started in January this year and have lost 3 stone. Just as importantly at 66 years old I feel like I have been given a new lease of life. The improvements in so many aspects of my health and general wellbeing is little short of miraculous. My waist has reduced by 9 inches. Why the health care professionals are not shouting the importance of this type diet from the rooftops is a mystery to me. Anyway when you were giving your body measurements and weight it made me wonder how tall you are as this would put your statistics into perspective. Finally cook the bacon in the Air Fryer and the steak in the pan. Great stuff, keep it up.

Hi Rick , congratulations on your progress, clearly your aware of the benefits of Carnivore and are excited starting your journey. I will be 3 weeks in on Monday on my journey, I feel I need to exercise more, but my goal is the same as your own, to kick that sugar addiction forever, it is absolutely life changing. Funny how before I detested bottled fizzy water and now see it as my guilty pleasure. My goal, to lose 6 stone before summer 2024 and I see its is perfectly possible. Lidl sell a nice Rib eye for £4 Oh I have to add, I definitely feel the health benefits after 3 weeks, much less joint pain. Oxygen levels have also improved, less huffing n puffing

The smoking suggestion using a Weber kettle is much smaller than a dedicated smoker & your only using one 3inch chunk of wood to smoke a steak for 10 minutes. Totally different from smoking a large brisket for 16 hours like they do in America using a huge oil barrel smoker. It isnt that bad, just place it at the top of your garden further away from people's houses so they won't notice, besides during colder days their windows will be closed anyway. I myself live in a terrace house with people on either side.

How interesting in regard to the water connoisseur, I’d never heard that before but it makes perfect sense as when practising keto I find I can taste the differences in all water, tap water in my area is gross. I love how food starts to taste so much better as well, when I don’t have sugar I find after a few days I can taste sugar in almost all food, I don’t know if that’s a thing or just my imagination.

Dear Rick, do I detect a bit of anxiety with your new sugarless diet? I can certainly understand. Haven't read all your fan suggestions, but I do also have a humble suggestion for you to provide more dimensions of flavor in your intended strictly beef, bacon, eggs and butter endeavor to improve your health and well-being. Haven't gotten there myself of tiring of the flavor of any kind of beef, but have indeed recently been experiencing additions and dimensions of flavor to food through stovetop smoking. Know you don't especially like smoke in your kitchen, but sometimes the smoke odor is most pleasant providing delightful ambiance of what I'd describe of caveman/Christmas deliciousness. Looks like you have a very good exhaust fan setup in your kitchen. For our recent American Thanksgiving, I smoked a chicken using pecan wood. Today I smoked hamburger (your mince meat) with hickory wood. Again, absolutely delicious. I have Apple wood yet to experiment with, but I am well-pleased with results, so far. And this is just a thought for you in case you tire of air-fried food. Meanwhile wishing you well on your journey! Have watched your videos with great interest for years. Love to yourself, Steve, and Michelle.

Hey Rick, I know it would be a complete disaster... But there's a part of me that really wants to see you open one of these videos saying "Good morning everybody, this is Rick and it's day 3 of me giving up sugar" ... But the whole time you're saying that you're chomping down on a Mars bar!!! 🤣🤣🤣 I just find the idea of that to be utterly hilarious despite how bad it would be. Just my wicked sense of humour!

Well done on your first day. I wonder if herbal teas would be a good thing to drink. I have some chamomile tea and it's quite nice. No milk or sugar. I've found a new dieter's problem that I didn't expect. I went to a social occasion and the table was groaning with all kinds of cake. I didn't eat anything, and loads of people told why I shouldn't be on a diet. Apparently I shouldn't care about not feeling well and being overweight. This was the general consensus. It's weird. I hope you don't find the same.

Thanks for the great comments and for sharing. I’ve seen so many people who are doing this right now and they say one of their biggest hurdles is the social stigma that they face. I guess being an agoraphobic recluse does help LOL!

The mind really can play tricks with you. When I was pregnant, I had a new craving pretty much on a daily basis. One day, I was craving a Swiss roll. Unfortunately, I was in France and couldn't find one anywhere. I randomly settled for some salt & vinegar crisps. When I ate them, they tasted weird and sweet.... then I realised, they tasted of Swiss roll! 🤣 Saved some for the next day (by then, my craving had changed), and they tasted of bog standard salt and vinegar crisps. 😂 Mind over matter!! Good luck on your journey. Have you tried Air Up bottles? You drink pure water, but a scented cartridge tricks your brain into thinking the water is flavoured. I have one and have tried different flavours - very interesting and quite enjoyable.

You’re doing great so far! Don’t know about drinking toothpaste in the future mind 😂 I like to tightly roll streaky bacon up, then cook them standing up in the air fryer. They are like little crispy rolls you can easily pop in your mouth. You can cook lots of them at the same time too.

i enjoyed the level of detail. i like to know how you think and feel as the diet progresses. some people talk about personality changes on such diets. it'd be interesting to know if you notice anything of this sort. you said you got rid of your anxiety of course which is major but is it gone fully or perhaps there are other shifts? do you have a set time for dinner or do you eat whenever you feel hungry? interesting approach to cravings. i always take them as a sign of my body's genuine nutritional needs, not necessarily the junk i happen to fancy but definitely something. perhaps i shared in another comment that if i don't eat enough fiber to ground me at the start of the day, i tend to jump on unhealthy carbs, overeat, and eat late. do you take note of the look of your face every day? that's my usual daily check to tell me how i'm doing.

I've been watching this series and I have nearly the exact same issues as you. One thing I'm curious about, are you concerned at all with cholesterol and so much red meat? Also, I think I recall you mentioning before that you have gallstone or gallbladder issues (I've had mine out), any issues with too much fat on this diet?
@rickvanman
@rickvanman 9 ай бұрын
Hi Bryan, not worried in the slightest about cholesterol or red meat new studies have shown everything we thought we knew about them is at the very least questionable and at the worst, downright fraudulent. (see Dr Berry’s or Dr Chaffee’s Channels for details). Gallbladder has settled down nicely so no issues apart from when I add trace minerals to my drinking water. I’ll cover this in a future video 😊👍

Personally I never put salt on meat before I cook it, it makes it less succulent . Doesn't all this meat make you constipated?
@rickvanman
@rickvanman 9 ай бұрын
I have tried without, but it's not as enjoyable. No constipation, when eating meat there is virtually no waste, the body knows what to do with all of it, so utilises it all.
