Lord Jesus, I humbly pray for myself, Father Mike, & all the people participating in the Bible-in-Year podcast. I do not know all their needs, but you do, Lord. I offer them to you with confidence that you hear our prayers. May your word take deep root in our hearts & transform our ways of thinking, discerning, and acting. May your grace open our ears to hear & understand and revere & treasure both the Old & the New Testaments which God has prepared for all who desire to enter his kingdom. May the Holy Spirit give us the Spirit of Knowledge, that we may know God and know ourselves. Give us the grace to approach the Word of God with meekness & humility, & with an eagerness to do everything God desires. Please give me the grace to set aside my intellect and my know-it-all attitude and let your Word speak to my heart and my soul. Help us to be diligent students & faithful disciples of your Word. May our hearts never grow dull & may our ears never tire of listening to your voice. Thank you and praise you for the gift of perseverance and for nourishing us with your word! Amen.

A great episode about wisdom and tactics. *_ Proverbs 17:9 to 12 show the importance of forgiveness, humbleness and being good instead of evil. *_ Oh yes, Nergal-Sharezer does sound like Pokémon Charizard! The names are very tricky to say and yet Fr. Mike does awesome work! *_ Judith's wisdom is seen in her speech and actions! Going in front of enemies and saying all that takes God's grace and Holy Spirit! *_ Jeremiah had an easy way out but still did the hard thing as it was his duty! *_ We must heed to warnings and be careful when someone tells us so. I had an interesting thought of how violent things were back in the days of the kings and prophets in the Bible and how young the Jewish faith was. The same was the early times of the Church among the Roman Empire through the time of the Reformation and Crusades. I see that in Islam today the youngest of the Ibrahamic religions. I think of the Pashtun people who were very perverse towards the infidels of their faith. Even today they carry out many tortures towards the infidel but the Muslims as a whole have become a much kinder people yet Christians and Jews take little trust in them and even have xenophobia towards them because of the many terrible things some have recently carried out in the "name" of Allah. The Judeo-Christian faiths are for the most part ignorant of the many beauties of Islam. Their prayers speak of peace. They are the knowers of the 99 names Allah which in Arabic simply means God. The angel Gabriel gave Allah's words to their prophet Muhammad. They may profess in only one Allah who was not begotten nor begets but don't also the Jews? Why then should we then respect the Jew and merely tolerate the Muslim? Jesus who is also their prophet born of the Virgin Mary would He not use examples of the good Muslim as He spoke highly of the good Samaritan if He were to be in His earthly ministry in modern times or even heal them as He did for the Roman centurion? Idolatry is not only setting up false gods but also demonizing things which we don't understand. May we be able to approach Muslims as St Francis approached the Sultan. Not of a xenophobic nature but one who wishes understand more to be understood; to be instruments of God's peace. To live peaceably with all men to the best of our ability? To be at peace not in mere toleration but of respect that even though our convictions are different we of all are sons of Abraham and highly reverence God in our own unique ways.

I was a Protestant. So, I never heard/read Judith before. This story sounds awful. How could Judith just take some of the last provisions from the Jews, give it to the Babylons, and then continue to plot against them?
