In my country you are under no circumstances allowed to overtake on the "inside lane". When there are two lanes (for all the cars in the right side of the road driving the same direction) you overtake on the left side and drive slower in the right side - just like on the Autobahn. Maybe that is why you got honked/high beamed at at 1:00 (which is of course completely unjustified unless it is to avoid an accident). But can somebody tell me what the norm for overtaking in the US is?
