Day 3 of the Daniel Riley Trial: Janae Edmondson's mother, Francine, delivers testimony

Janae Edmondson took the witness stand Thursday morning. Janae recounted her father tying a belt tightly around her legs while her mother held her face and told her, "Don't close your eyes. You have to stay awake." She kept repeating those words back to herself when she was taken away in an ambulance without her parents, and she said her eyes were open all the way to the hospital.

My adult son was a victim of a violent crime. I love and pray for this family. My son was working, rented a home. His buddy of ten years stayed there when he was on leave from the army (4 tours, Iraq) and shot my son 4 times (all kill shots) with his weapon, left him outside and drove off drunk. He was found in the morning (84 degrees internal temperature. He survived thank God, after 3 plus years in a custom electronic wheelchair. Quadriplegic Incomplete, we lived at the trauma center . He now walks, is married, a child, and works for a service that certifies and help disabled people to get off the dole, and have a suitable job. These clients Ask for this service, this makes me happy for everyone that has been dealt an unfair blow- because A lot of them want a Life back and independence! I hope this fool gets a massive sentence, because we didn’t have one. Love

I’m so sorry that Janae and her family are going through this. The trauma in her Mum’s voice… 😢💔 My heart goes out to them. Her Dad likely saved her life getting the tourniquets on as quick as he did. And her Mum telling her and willing her to stay conscious. Thank God they had the presence of mind in that situation. I hope they have good support around them and that Janae will get the best physical and mental therapy to live as full a life as she can. 💞💞💞

I'm an amputee 2+ yrs and wow this brave lady talking brought my own loss back. Realization my old life was over, at 75. Awesome she has such support. It's not easy to push past the emotional, mental, and physical issues but keeping a positive attitude is so important. No I didn't loose my leg to diabetes but Valley Fever.

May I ask where you contracted Valley Fever? I became very ill living in a house with toxic mold in St Augustine Beach Florida. After this I wanted to live somewhere without mold. I thought out West would be ideal. But then I learned about Valley Fever. Both my Akita and I were never the same after living in the mold, bad stuff! I was warned that many places out West were infected with Valley Fever. A lady who runs the Akita rescue near Phoenix said it was really bad there and to not even consider moving there since our immune systems were compromised

Its different if you were born cripple but remembering that you were once able to do those things yourself can take you mentally from Zero to 100. They can be happy yea but there are always those dark days when the happiness flies away and sorrow takes over. Life never remains the same.

I was once hit by a drunk driver, at the scene he never inquired if I was alive or dead. He was trying to call a cab to leave the scene. Bastard was a career drunk driver and the prosecutor allowed him to plead down to reckless driving and a mere 3 days in jail although I was severely injured

Not only having to go through such a horrible thing, then you have to sit in court, in front of the person causing it all. It takes an incredible strength and courage. I also am thinking about the questions from the attorney, some seeming to be irrelevant and only causing more pain. What is the purpose, for instance knowing what the poor girls reaction was when she was told she had both her legs taken? Or where the parents stayed when their daughter was still in hospital? I get they need the whole picture, but all those gruesome details?...
