Hi Everyone, Congratulation on making it to the end! :) Lesson Notes: 0:00 Exercise 1: Be strict - when you play, try to fill the bars completely. When you rest, you rest - don't play over the lines. (Level 1) 0:28 Exercise 2: You are allowed to play pick up notes during the rest period. (Level 2) 0:56 Exercise 3: You don't have to be strict with the 2 bars playing and resting period, just keep the general idea. Optional exercises: Play 3 bars - Rest 3 bars Play 3 bars - Rest 2 bars Once you develop a healthy balance between playing and resting, you can stop practicing this approach. ------------- Well, this is the end of the 30-day challenge. If you had any New Year's resolutions regarding your piano practice, I hope this challenge helped you build momentum towards those goals. As I said at the beginning of this challenge, I wanted to give you a practical method that you can later apply to any jazz standards. There are two other mini-courses on my channel that follows the same method: Autumn Leaves Improvisation - kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5bJYYSVgbNjbck All of Me Improvisation - kzbin.info/www/bejne/hGXZnHaFd6xjjck These lessons in a nutshell: Step 1: Know the chord progression (Walking Bass + Rootless Voicings) Step 2: Know your scales Step 3: Add arpeggios Step 4: Add enclosures Step 5: Add Rhythm (Play & Rest Approach) Now that you have completed this challenge, you will notice that things are starting to make much more sense - especially when it comes to analyzing my jazz etudes in this youtube channel :) Of course, this is just the beginning of a beautiful journey into the world of jazz, but now you have a strong foundation, so you can feel grounded when you start adding extra elements to your improvisation. If you feel the hunger to dig even deeper, I certainly want to be here to feed your knowledge, skills, and abilities. This 30-day challenge was my way of saying thank you. Not long ago, I reached 100 000subscribers, and I did not want to take that for granted. The next big milestone is 250 000 for me, and when that happens, I will be back with another challenge/course. (It would be nice to brainstorm together on the next topic ;)) I will take the next few weeks to recharge and prepare some quality content for this channel. Until then, I wish you well. Thank you for being here! See you soon. David

I just subscribed and completed the 30 day jazz blues sessions. It was a real good course, well structured. I'd work lessons Monday - Friday and review on weekends so it took me 6 weeks. After a little goof off piano time I'll look at some of the other offerings for new challenges.

I am following and practicing everyday, its happy to see myself finish it too, but please tell me what is the link between bebop scales and blues practice?

When a student practices blues deliberately, learning something new about it every week, will eventually get to the point where she has to go beyond the blues scale. When a student reaches that point and wants to look beyond traditional blues, the door she should open is Bebop.
