For the record, this was not an endorsement of Communism or socialism. Rather this was a witness to the love and generosity these first converts had for each other; and their Detachment from the world, focusing only on Christ as the main purpose of their life. The church has been very clear that Communism and socialism are not compatible with the Catholic faith. Only the free market (as understood as a system where people's property belongs to them; to be used in any way they see fit, provided it is not sinful nor harms or endangers themselves or others and allows for freely given charity to those in need) is a legitimate economic system.

The usual accusation against us on the other side is this justification by faith alone, and often James 2 is quoted "you see then that a man is justified by works and not faith alone" James here I believe is talking about justification before men, not our justification before God. Jesus said "Let your light so shine before men, that they might see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven" Matt 5 Once a person has been born again, God has justified us based on our faith in Christ, good works follow because we know how loved and forgiven we are.❤

The baptism at Pentecost is so powerful. Also all of us have fallen short and we have sinned and repentance is essential. It is so true that even with all the gifts we received all the grace that God is given us, we fall short and we disappoint, but God is still here for us and with us.

November 26, 2023 Do you have just a moment in time to pray for Souls in Purgatory with me? According to tradition, St. Gertrude the Great, was told by Our Lord that each time she piously recited the following prayer, it would release 1,000 souls (or a vast number) from their suffering in purgatory: Eternal Father, I offer You the most precious blood of thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal Church, for those in my own home, and in my family. Amen. In her account of another vision, St. Faustina describes Purgatory as a "great crowd of suffering souls" undergoing purification. Further, she says that the souls are "praying fervently, but to no avail, for themselves; only we can come to their aid" (Diary, 20)
