This is a jam packed portion of 1 Corinthians. We are called, as believers and followers of Christ Jesus, to live set apart, holy, and sanctified lives. We can only do this by walking in the Holy Spirit. If you are single, you are to avoid the scenarios that can lead to premarital sex. If you are married, be faithful to your spouse and do not break the covenant you made. For the same-sex attracted, you are to abstain from engaging in homosexual relationships. For everyone, we should avoid anything that arouses: books, movies, tv, music, pornography. We are called to sexual purity in every way. I love 1 Corinthians 7. It provides good advice for both married and single people. As a single woman, it really encourages me, and I must say that it has freed me up to pursue the Lord unhindered. I know that this is not everyone's calling, but I am so thankful that God's word speaks on this. If you are married, you are blessed. If you are single, you are also blessed. "Freedom in Christ is not freedom to sin. Freedom in Christ is freedom from sin." Yes and Amen!

1 Cor 8:1, ... "knowledge puffs up while love builds up." This reminds me of the prayer before we read that knowledge would not puff us up but serve to help us love God and others more. 🙏🏽 I Cor 8:3, ..."Whoever loves God is known by God." Oh to be known by God- truly known- He is the only one who can and does. I am so thankful for this- how He knows me and still loves me. ❤️

I think the essence of today’s passage is humility, putting our spouse’s needs ahead of our own, and not even considering our bodies as belonging to ourselves, but God (1 Cor 6:19).

Hi, I am or was part of the Patreon Family. I had a monthly donation even into November. I haven’t received an email on how to transition. I’m not part of the Facebook group because I don’t have a facebook account, my choice. The last info I received was from Patreon. Do you know how cancellation or transition done? (I saw your name on the Patreon site. Hope you can help.)

TLC, I like several things you said today. Here are three: "Anything that lets us continue in sin unchecked and carefree isn't grace - it's passive wrath." "[Paul] tells the church how to respond to those in the church who walk in active rebellion against God's call for sexual integrity - _not those who struggle to do it but those who refuse._ There's a big difference." In [1 Corinthians 5:9-10], Paul lists the types of people who won't inherit the Kingdom. It's a scary list because we've all been on it at least once." Thank you for the Bible Recap! God bless! 😊

I am getting ready to turn 56 and including God in everything I do in life, the better I accept things (good and bad) that happen with me and others, and it makes everything that is brought into my (and others) lives a lot more easier to navigate through. It makes me more thoughtful, grateful, forgiving, thankful, and how much more I value friends and family. We all Need someone in this living earth to get through things that happen in the flesh, so accept him, love him, give your life to him and you will not believe what he can make happen to you. Love and prayers. ❤️🙏🏼

What a powerful and packed passage today. I find these chapters in 1 Corinthians relevant in our churches even now. So many people want personal salvation for the sake of themselves, then want to live life with no true apparent difference or change. God’s adoption of us changes us; it doesn’t gives us a free pass to live life however we want and then ask for absolution.

Oof! What a powerful visual re: the Spirit living inside us! If we sin, we are FORCING Him to take part in it and forcing someone to do something they don’t want to do…”there’s a word for that”. So powerful!

Those who follow Christ should view everything through the lens of the gospel of Christ and live it out through the power of the Spirit. There are some in the Corinthian church living lives of sexual debauchery and praising it. they do things that even pagans do, and they use God‘s grace as an excuse why they do it. It’s an abuse of grace. Freedom in Christ isn’t freedom to sin. Freedom in Christ is freedom FROM sin. It means we are no longer enslaved to sin. It means we have the power of the Spirit to help us obey God. Any version of God’s grace that treats sin as no big deal is a crude misrepresentation. Grace is an agent of change. It is God‘s favor on us to help us walk according to His ways. Redirect us away from the sins of the flesh, and towards the fruits of the Spirit. Anything that lets us continue in sin unchecked is not Grace, it is passive wrath….shudder. One problem with sexual sin, it dishonors people by dissociating their body from their soul. Using them for personal pleasure. It’s selfish and not loving. If you are a believer, you have the spirit of God living inside of you. If you force the spirit of God into sexual situations. He doesn’t want to be in, there is a word for that. Flee sexual immorality. Run from it. Rebellion and repentance move in opposite direction Rebellion moves away from God. Repentance moves closer to God. When it comes to sin, there’s no such thing as standing still, it will move you in one direction or the other.

From the show today “we aren't just Sinners we're Saints who happen to sin” can someone please explain this to me, how we can we be called Saints and still sin?
@sueparsons6073
@sueparsons6073 10 ай бұрын
Think of it as two titles. One title is sinner, one title is saint. Before we met Christ, we were just sinners with no hope. Once we come to Christ, we have a second title now, that of saints. So we’re not just sinners walking aimlessly with no hope, now we are Saints walking in Christ. But while in this earthly body, we still sin. But title of Saints allows us to go to Christ and seek forgiveness. So now we aren’t just sinners anymore. We’re saints, who still sin. I’m so glad that as a saint, set apart from this world, I have a father, who loves me so much that he forgives me when I sin! He’s where the joy is!

Romans 7-8 explains this well, esp Rom 7:21-25. God has justified us, making us His children (John 1:12), but our whole lives are spent in sanctification, growing more into Christ’s image. Along the way, as justified saints, we fail and receive His forgiveness, and then grow closer to Him as we hunger and thirst for righteousness.
