This is a wonderful section and a full day in the Lake District National Park. A day in the wilds but with Skiddaw House and Lingy Hut well placed for shelter and refreshment 😁 If you would like to support my channel that would be amazing 😀: buymeacoffee.com/trekkingwithtony

Loving these videos. Did the walk about 32 years ago 😳 and loved it. Skiddaw youth hostel is a fantastic place to stay, one time I was the only one there and the couple looking after it were fantastic. The heather looked beautiful but my goodness it was wet underfoot.

Glad you are enjoying them Margret😀. It is a great walk, I'm glad you got to do it. It is a lovely hostel and very well equipped. The heather was amazing to be in but certainly a wet underfoot 😂. Thanks for your support⛰😀☀

15:40 - Cryptic question for you Tony, based on your humorous comment walking through the gate.....do you hail from a Roman city, your accent suggests it's possible ?😉 As always, immense respect for not only completing the route but filming it in such a professional manner.

I’m from The Eccleston side of St.Helens and there was apparently a Roman settlement there. There is still evidence if the Roman road nearby. I’m intrigued to know what you spotted 🤔 I’m glad you enjoyed it 😁. It was testing but great fun. I’m glad I could show it to you ⛰️😁🥾

@@trekkingwithtony close but not close enough, I thought you may have grown up in the historical city of Deva, 20 miles or so to the south. A city famous for its perimeter wall, with an entrance gate on each side, one of which is known as "Watergate" !

Ah, about the same distance from Liverpool so we have similar weak scouse accents 😆. I have spent plenty of time there. A beautiful city😁. I may have subconsciously filed the information away. All the best mate ⛰️😁🥾

Great video thanks, we did C2C in August and would like to do this next August. We would of taken longer doing the C2C in hindsight since you miss so much, if we did the Cumbria Way in 6 or 7 how would you brack it up?

Hi Anthony, Thanks mate😁. I’d like to split day 1 but there is no way of doing it unless you are wild camping 🏕️. Day 2 is the shortest and is absolutely fine. On day 3 you can stop at Rosthwaite or Grange but otherwise I’d push on and take an extra day in Keswick as a break. An idea may be to get to Derwent water and get the boat over to Keswick, then get it back when you restart and walk to the YHA I come to on day 4. This will reduce the distance for day 3-4 and break it into 3 days. Day 5 is fine as it is pretty flat. I hope that makes sense mate, enjoy it out there 🥾😁⛰️

@trekkingwithtony Food for thought would love to stay at Skiddaw YHA but we can't since we have a dog, keep up the good work really like the map of route at the beginning of each walk, thanks for getting back to me.

Hi Tony, Hi Allison. Thank you for bringing back some great memories. This was for me the best day of the lot. I just loved it . I love remoteness so for me this had it all. Glad to see you didn’t cheat and take the easy path up to Lingy Hut from the bottom of Grainsgill Beck, and stuck to the official Cumbria Way. 🤣 Brilliant, you stayed in the Glamping pod at Caldbeck Camp site. We thought that looked amazing, when we stayed at the camp site. All the best guys. 😃🥾⛰🏕️

@@DAoutdoors Hi Dave, it was a fantastic day and really glad I picked up the Skiddaw House tip from your video. It made all the difference to pace out the walk. The route up was hectic but worth it because of the waterfalls 😁. The glamping pod was awesome 🤩. Well worth it. Glad it brought it back to you. Enjoy it out there mate🥾😁⛰️
