My friend Kenny and I drove out to Colorado where we watched the 2017 Nationals at Thunder Valley and went riding in both the mountains as well as the motocross track you will see in this video; Berthoud Moto Park. This is an amazing track, been around for decades, sold and re-built by "Dirt Wurx" the same team that builds the AMA indoor pro motocross tracks.
My ride this day was short but not so sweet; another much faster rider made a risky move as we approached a big roller and ended up taking both me and himself out in a big way while I was just making my second sight lap. He was knocked out cold and I had a posterior shoulder dislocation among a few other injuries. (Only 3% of Dislocations are Posterior) This video captures the track as well as my adventure getting ready to head into the ER in my pickup where they reset my shoulder. A big thanks to the track owners for building this playground and to my friend Kenny for getting me to the ER.
In some ways I am thankful that the cause of the accident was not because of my own actions. As a rider with just over one years of motocross experience, I have taken corners wide before and either almost caused an accident or in one case did cause an accident. I have been spending a lot of time studying, practicing and taking professional lessons to become a safer rider for both my own good as well as those around me. I hope to someday connect with the other rider on social media; I wish him only positive vibes.
