I hike the AT locally in MD all the time. I found your channel right before you were in my town (Frederick). I was wondering if you would make it from the AT into town. And sure enough, this episode came up. I live less than 2 blocks from Olde Mother where you ate your Gambrill lunch! So happy your trail angel took you around town. Good luck on the rest of your hike!!!! I'm sure you have already been past Annapolis Rocks on the trail by now, but there is a nice spring there if you haven't (and camp areas, and a nice look out, etc).

Updated: Checked out Gambrill MT Food Company! 12/16/21 they've moved to swankier digs with a music stage and I'm told to expect a fair amount of bluegrass bands, bingo, OK by me. I went there to get a sandwich for today's day hike of the AT from Ensign Cowell to points south. Mostly hot food, not really useful for your day pack although I did buy a Philly Steak. Pretty good story, I think, from food truck to probably cheap digs (which Kelly visited) to nicer, expanded place, what hard work and a vision will get you. I mentioned Kelly to the guy I ordered the sandwich from, that's what brought me there. He checked out day 70, kinda did an oh wow! that's the old place, which they no longer have. So maybe the crew there will get a kick out of what was only a moment of time for them. Good hike today, quick, stiff climb but then a couple miles of very level hiking. Met an older woman hiker prepping for a Feb 2022 through-hike. good luck to her. This would be in Frederick, MD not Fredericksburg, VA or any other state. Yeah, I like to leave easter eggs.

@S M I do agree ‘potentially’ but the fact that she felt something at the shelter and then they were at the hostel…gives raise to concern. And even the friends who took her out to eat stated the men felt off. Thing is…they stayed put not knowing that her friends were dropping her off down the road…for all they knew, she was going with them. I’m glad she followed her gut. I’m 61, not sure what I would have done as I have no one I know who would come and get me.
