53:00 i think 8v8 was a good call as Day9 being a newbie had lesser impact on the game (1 out of 8 players is smaller fraction than 4v4 etc) and could maximize his odds of seeing a base of a good player (which raised a lot of good questions). Whoever suggested lower player count was completely wrong as 8v8 is great to speed up learning process.

It's a great game, the devs took everything good about Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander and smashed it into one game. Even the graphics are in between both.

Holy crap. In the second game how Sean didn't even have the decency to tell his team that he was practicing putting pings down and just spam trolled them with pings! That's some BM right there ;-)

A great game, but the admins are hyper-active. Just one example from today, as per their mod bot: "(player) has been moderated. Reason: Griefing by destroying your own base even if the game is clearly lost, just resign instead., Restriction: Login" (2 day ban)

lol, that's so freakin' dumb. Modern game developers go out of their way to remove all fun from games and then wonder why they have no players a month after launch. Halo 2 was basically a free for all with trash talk and yet somehow the game was one of the most popular multiplayer games of its time. Then Halo Infinite launches without all the social interaction and loses 98% of the player base within a year. It's almost like excessive moderation has NEVER increased a games player population. The only thing players should ever get banned for is cheating. If you don't like a player vote kick or mute. It's not hard.

I feel day9 has not played supreme commander haha. Because he is saying '5 constructors is too many' and I'm like bruh, by mid game you should have like 10 of 2 different tech tiers all building things if not making your factories build faster. this ain't no fancy micro intensive Starcraft. This is build as much as possible as fast as possible

Looks a LOT like Supreme Commander. Same resource system, same unit-tier and production system, same kind of maps.

actually no, this has more feature, more units, more versatility, and the terrain of the maps are more tactical.

10 years ago I bombarded D9 to play a TA Spring game, like BAR, Zero-K. Looks like it's finally here. Zero-K doesn't have the economy "singluarity" he talks about, and I think it's better than BAR. There's other stuff like NOTA too. The Zero-K chickens mode is GREAT for coop gameplay!

Bit of a legacy. There's an open source RTS engine called Spring that's been around since the early aughts, and it was made to make a modern, full 3d version of TA. Several Spring projects have been started over the years, but BAR is the first one IMO that actually captures that TA madness properly without just looking like a bucket of jank.

This is not TA, this is SupCom with modern face and more streamlined. Looks like a simpler version of FAF.

Exactly what i thought! People who say this is more complex than FaF have obviously never played it lol. Not saying this is bad or anything. It's just an easy observation. To be frank the economy management seems simpler which is good for new players.

Really, it's more TA than SupCom! Many (most?) of the units map 1:1 with units from Total Annihilation, and the game's directly evolved from Total Annihilation mods, after some of them moved to the Spring Engine in 2005.
