this is really such an uplifting video! im also studying at uni and thinking about med, and people often highlight on how stressful and dreary it can be in hospitals, but you make it seem very interesting and i guess it's just refreshing to see someone take a positive/humorous look on it :) so thank you!

much appreciated :) that's the aim with this sort of video, half the time its just about actually finding something in medicine that appeals to you, finding people you get on with and doing things that you like doing on a daily basis. if you do that then the "hard work" actually becomes something you enjoy getting better at and you won't resent it

You are the first doctor I’ve seen actively enjoying or trying to make the best out of a shift, whether that be comparing surgery to a video game, or just doing silly things to make the time feel worthwhile. I expect it can be very difficult to do so all the time but still aspire to get out of my quiet and awkward shell and try to be more like you! Thanks :)

gotta make it work for you and you can't just be a bot the whole time - obviously there is a time and place for everything and you have to act professional and not joke around but there is a time for some moments where you can actually be a human being, which lots of people forget to acknowledge.

ooo I have a question about being a junior doctor, how involved are you during surgeries, is it mostly just observations or do you have to do a lot of hands on tasks?
@imasperharry Жыл бұрын
so it really depends on how experienced you are, the complexity of the case, how much time is available in theatre etc. the general rule of thumb is the more you know and understand the more you can do but there has to be time in theatre to teach and also it has to be safe to do so :)

How much general surgeon can earn?
@imasperharry11 ай бұрын
Would depend if just public or if they also have private rooms. Can earn a lot more in private and would be highly variable based on type and number of procedures, out of pocket charges and ratio of public to private work. I would estimate average wage around a few hundred thousand dollars per annum
