I've been teaching English in China for 10 years. Today I show you guys what a typical day as a black English teacher is like while teaching at a Chinese university. I also give you guys a glimpse into what it's like to teach English online. Overall, this is a pretty typical work day for me. You can see how the Chinese respond to having a black teacher

As a person that only studies art trying to learn math, I mostly trying to get a online job of learning 2D animation and financial trade, becoming an English teacher or just a teacher in general is kind of difficult and and for me being a shy person I don't think I'm going to be good at teaching English I mostly teach English with my foreign friends in private not in schools to be honest not a lot of people want to become a teacher they probably want to find a way how to live abroad by working remotely with different skills they are good at I'm mostly good at trading and digital art , people ask me even my foriegn friends asked me if I got to become an English teacher it could be good for me, I make them well known that I'm mostly good at making cartoons and learning trade, I'm scared to become a teacher really I'm shy for that haha.😅

@Nick-ub8oi Yeah, I think China has made it more stringent now compared to the early 2000s. I think you ideally need a Bachelors at least in any field (it can be English but it can be Maths, Science, Geography or something else.). But China pays more than the other Asian countries.

As a teacher and Black person, I WISH you were more professional. Recording your students, yourself, your personal exploits, and not dressing professionally is reinforcing stereotypes about Black men and Black people in general.

Disappointed in your choice of attire. When I taught in Japan/China (over two decades), I always dressed smart; business casual. I knew I was representing black people so I wanted to make the best possible impression. It worked.

Going to a university dressed like that is crazy work. Not sure why this would be the image you would want your students to have of a black American that is supposed to be a professional. Also opening yourself up to some unwanted attention by filming the student's exam and posting it on KZbin. Not sure about China, but I know a lot of places in Asia are sensitive about having their videos uploaded without permission. Can't imagine that putting an oral university exam online on the same channel where you talk about how to pick up girls is being smart or wanted by the students.

Mate... You really trying to mess up the gig out here in China?? You're making it look like one big joke, this video will get out and Chinese pride themselves on one thing "face" how they look towards other people, and you're making Sichuan s top university look like a joke... All this for views, smh, mate this video makes you look like you're lacking serious self awareness, sometimes if you feel you have something good shut up about it and preserve it, cause you dam well know you couldn't do this in the USA as a lecturer...
@TheMantis25
@TheMantis25 13 сағат бұрын
Exactly. He comes off very unprofessional. He is openly vlogging in front of the students. He didn't bother to ask their permission if they are ok with their faces being shown. If the administration or the students' family were aware of this he would be in serious trouble. In an American university he would be fired. He keeps saying they are not strict. Maybe not with him because they already know they can easily deport him.
@SmilingDesperado
@SmilingDesperado Сағат бұрын
Yep, guys like this end up messing it up for EVERYONE. All it takes for one of these kinds of videos to go viral, and then schools will be forced to crack down in order to save face. Not just crack down on you, but everywhere. For some KZbin views? He's putting his school's reputation out there and making them look like a joke. And it makes black Americans look bad on top of that.

Not trying to throw shade but: (1) Do you think the way you're dressed commands "respect" in general? (2) Do you think wearing a USA sweatshirt in Mao's China is a good idea? (3) Do you think filming all of this for your KZbin channel is the best thing to do? Food for thought.

China is not as strict as the propaganda in the west makes it seem. Chinese are not so strict that a USA sweatshirt would ruin their day or be seen as disrespect. You can travel around China and even see Chinese themselves wearing shirts and hats from other countries. MAO's China, yes but its 2025. Respect from what I noticed comes from cleanliness and speech so long as hes clean then wont be a problem. Im no expert just my perspective.
@nicolewilson4058

@@JeepLove It really all depends on which city you are in. Due to the current political climate you do need to be aware of things. Yes, it is 2025 but Mao is still revered and held in a high regard especially by the older generation. Regardless of how many years he has lived there he still has to maintain himself a certain way.

Enjoy watching you displaying the Colors. The MSS must be surveilling you especially living there >10 years. You shown that you're not just an American but an African American (the strongest global people of color). The look from the gate entrance Security Officer underscored the official attitude mandated by Beijing at a preeminent Chinese university concerning Americans. The respect that they conferred on you was nice to see. Comparably, they didn't interject any negativity which Africans are targeted with living in China. Now switching gears here. Because you're instructing at Sichuan University, was it required that you have a masters degree? And if so, what grad degree (MBA, MFA, MPA, MIA, MPH)? Lastly, since it appears that East Asia and SE Asia are home for you, have you considered doing an online American, British, German, or Dutch doctoral program?
