Girl I feel all of this! Ive been assisting for a minute now and it’s been ok. I have heard from other con workers that’s why they left and went into hygiene. Because they felt like the lowest person in the office.

& I worked at a really nice private office but it was 1 assistant that made it so fucking complicated for me. This was the first office I worked at after my externship so I was still fairly new. This girl has the worst attitude. She didn’t GAF about anybody & I was working A LOTTTT!!! I Even managed to take care of some of her patients + mine when she couldn’t but then they would use that against me as if I wasn’t doing enough or not working fast enough 🙄 I used to set up my room the night before and I’d come in the next morning and either my tray was gone or switched over to another assistant room but most likely hers. She blamed a lot of stuff on me bc I was the new girl and I was too scared to speak up & I caught her talking about me to the other assistants and hygienist and I almost lost my shit. Anyways long story short, I’m pretty sure she’s the reason I got fired. Can’t stand that Bch

I love your story girl I can relate so much I’ve definitely been there before in so many offices and I had experienced that on my externship as well people are always jealous but it’s best to let people know where you stand so the know they can’t mess with you I’ve been to the point where I’ve had to curse ppl out in front of everybody but they knew not to mess with me nomore lol

Hi, thank you love 💗 I always make sure I bring it up during a one on one meeting . When I do I make sure to tell them how experienced I am and that i take on a lot of roles that other assistants aren’t doing but I teach them as well. I think a bump in pay would be great and always ask for more than what you want that way they either give you more or knock you down to where u where hoping to be at

Yes you will be taken serious their are assistants in their 40s and 50s if this career is what you want to do then do it! You have to do what makes you happy and not worry about what others are gonna think 😊and being in this field will bring you more confidence to speak to people and become comfortable because it definitely did that for me. I really hope you do it you seem passionate about it I wish you the best 😊 Don’t be afraid to ask me anything.

Hi Patience, when you were in dental school did you have to know any kind of math for the program? I'm interested in possibly going to school for dental assisting but don't have strong math skills. I know just basic elementary math.
@patienceparadise839
@patienceparadise839 Жыл бұрын
Hi love not really, I know I really don’t use it at all unless u transition to working for the front desk I’m not sure how school is now because it’s been 10 years ago for me, but I’m sure u will be fine I suck at math too lol

Same. 8years in here and my hands are killing me. Definitely a hard working career for us very little pay. Had to work to where I’m at now and with the economy and the rising cost of everything it’s still not enough.

Is there any certified dental assistant course online i can sign up
@patienceparadise839
@patienceparadise839 Жыл бұрын
Hi, I’m sure there are but if your going to go that route, you might want to look for jobs that say " willing to train " because you won’t get any clinical time and that’s where you learn the most. If you can get in there without having to pay tuition is great there are a lot of assistants that do that and a lot of jobs may say CDA but they never ask for your certification.

I'm a 44 year old male considering dental assistant job....Would it be better for me to become a LPN instead??? How would they treat me??? Does it matter if school for DA is 100 hrs or 1000 hrs of training?? Do you actually learn alot on the job?
@patienceparadise839
@patienceparadise839 8 ай бұрын
Hi, you learn more from the job and a lot of times you can get into the field without any training. And you shouldn’t really worry about what people will say about you I have worked with alot of male dental assistants and alot of the doctors like it’s because they are so use to working with women. I’m not sure what a Lpn is. But if you want a more fulling career with room to grow in pay I world be a dental hygienist instead of assistant. Hope this was helpful

Hey love, I would say stay positive don’t let how the doctors talk to u get under your skin. Always ask another experienced assistant for help or just as much as possible. Also don’t doubt yourself. If your not ready to work with the doctor try to stay in the lab and sterilize instruments until your comfortable. Also being a hygiene assistant is a easy way to get u comfortable working with patients
