Hi Lynette. I think I can address your succulent issue. Soil for succulents need good drainage. They like sandy soil. Water only when soil is completely dry. If they seem to be growing upward more than outward it is because they are not getting enough sunlight. All succulents need direct sunlight, especially the colorful ones. The colorful ones need even more sunlight and can even revert back to green if they are indoors or not in direct sun. You can't return it back to it's original shape but the color can return. But you can propogate (make baby succulents) by cutting off the rosette at the top, planting the fresh cuttings into soil but don't water for 7-10 days. Keep out of direct sunlight at first.

Keep taking the bottom leaves off your succulents as they turn. Depending on how moist your air is water them from the bottom (place the plant pot in a basin of water about one half of the depth of your pot plant) for about 45 mins to an hour, about once a week. If the atmosphere is humid it will need less watering.

Baby smiles are the BEST!!! I “water” my succulent with ice cubes. 2-3 ice cubes in the tray the pot sits in. I don’t water from top down- if that makes sense. My Dad and my husband say the same about coffee... smells great! Does not taste like it smells!!!

sarahkat82b I am no expert by far. I have 1 succulent. It’s little. But it has survived... so, success?!?! I put two ice cubes (automatic ice maker size)in the overflow tray a week. I also “water” my orchid using ice cubes. 4 ice cubes, once a week. Set the ice cubes on top of the dirt. It’s the first of many orchids that I haven’t killed (and that actually continues to bloom).
