I did a rural route for FedEx ground in Nebraska in 2020. It's nice to see others doing the dusty grind. I knew the UPS guy too. We were cool, but he was definitely burned out and had a limp. Found about 30 of his packages at the end of a 3/4 mile drive way one day. Guess he didn't want to navigate the driveway...

I’m an Amazon driver (Carle Place NY, Long Island). I usually get between 300 and 350 packages a day (sometimes close to 400) because I’m so good at the job. My routes are always very tight with the stops being very close together. Long Island is home to eight million people so I’m never delivering in rural areas. I usually get to my route at noon and I deliver until about 7:00 o’clock. If I have a lighter day I can finish earlier than that. I usually get between 240 and 280 different locations on a route. I usually have a very heavy workload. Long Island is also very congested so I’m usually in terrible traffic, even on Sundays. I started in November 2023 after I lost my previous job as a coach cleaner for Metro North Railroad. I found something I’m very good at and I have no plans on leaving anytime soon.

This is a great video, I'm currently an Amazon driver and considering i'll probably never be able to retire driving for Amazon I've been looking into ups full time driving and found out they make really good pay and have great benefits. After doing much reading on Google without actually watching any videos about driving for UPS, I was at the very least intimidated lol. This video is reassuring that it's not too much different than driving for Amazon minus different procedures and rules that you guys have to go through, other than that though I'm excited to make the transition here in about a year-and-a-half. Hopefully I don't have to start off in the warehouse, I've been reading about that as well, would much rather start up as a part-time driver, but whatever I have to get through in the beginning to become a full-time driver I figure it's worth it. Thanks again for the great video and keep up the content, love to see more

I drive for Amazon and it’s pretty similar to this. But we have to call, text, call the customer if the business is closed or if we have a problem delivering to a house. It’s annoying. Also we have cameras in our vans watching us at all times. It sucks. Heard ups pays better but is hard to get hired by them. Imma try my luck and hopefully be driving for them soon.

How does scheduling work? How many hours typically per day? Do you get to pick your start times upon hiring? Does scheduling go by seniority? And what are the typical shift times?

As a new applicant that applied for the seasonal driver position. I have an upcoming driver's test appointment with the supervisor for UPS, would you know by any chance if they expect you to know a pre-trip inspection on the truck before the driving test begins or is the pre-trip inspection demonstrated?

Can you start off as a full-time delivery driver? I read that it takes a long time to become full-time. Super appreciative of these videos as someone who is considering a major career change!

I hear they transfer from current employees. Like you start at the warehouse and then they will hire the part timers as drivers

It’s 3? To one, 3 insiders then a outsider. Honestly you gotta learn the culture and see if this is the job for you, so starting inside is the way to go
