If no one else has told you, let me be the first: You guys are a great, cute couple. Building a van together, inexperienced as you were, is not at all unlike building a marriage/life together. In both cases, you're starting on a journey into the unknown; you are learning as you go, making some mistakes (more positively speaking "gaining experiences and invaluable life lessons"); learning about yourself and your partner as well as team you make; identifying, setting and attaining goals. Hey, maybe every couple should first build a van together! Godspeed you both on all your journeys. P.S. Perhaps you should download/save all this for posterity. KZbin may not be around forever.

You are too kind! Thank you so much for the words of encouragement and support, we really do appreciate it and you! We have genuinely enjoyed every moment of our experience so far, even when we are "gaining experiences and invaluable life lessons" aka making many mistakes haha Not only have we been able to go on an amazing adventure together but we have also found and gotten to share our journey with a fantastic group of people here on KZbin. We are very fortunate to be able to be doing this and don't want to take it for granted 😊

Hey guys 👋 I wasn't expecting a video so soon. Boy was I jumping with excitement to see you. That was an awesome camping spot. And free 😳 nice. I've paid for spots that were no where near as great. Love the collapsible toilet and other options. Drive safe y'all 💕

You are too kind! Honestly you helped us a lot in the beginning! Not sure if you remember but you let us know the audio was inconsistent in some of our earlier videos which helped us improve :) Thank you so much for your support and following along with our journey!

You guys are doing what I only thought of in years past. Do it while your young and no need to look back with regrets. Had a G20 Chevyvan, 15 mpg max downhill. Did drive thru Nova Scotia and down to Florida to deliver some furniture I made for some friends. Oh yea, forgot to mention, no AC…still waiting for your travel to Hawaii

Great video. That portable toilet look pretty good. I going to get one as backup. How do you go with condensation? Its great to see video like these. Gives people ideas, you learn a lot. That free camping looks stunning. Lovely area next to River makes a prefect sleep
@mikeandheather Жыл бұрын
Yes! We do get condensation, we use a condensation sponge that we found at an Eddie Bauer outlet. We found the same one on Amazon and have included the link below if you are interested. We also have a microfiber towel that we use to wipe the windows if they are especially bad but usually the sponge does the trick. Hope that helps! Thank you for watching 😊 Link to sponge: amzn.to/3ZjoCpW

I have the same collapsible toilet in my van. I found garbage bags that fit it perfectly. I put a special paper in the toilet after I pee that turns the liquid to a solid gel. So no splashing or spilling.
@mikeandheather Жыл бұрын
We will have to look into that! That sounds like another bathroom item we may have to add to our van. Thank you so much for watching, we really appreciate it!

Another great video and love how you are keeping it real! I am curious about the type of work you both do while traveling. Are you freelancing, contracting, or a regular employee and what are you doing on those Mac books? Do you hotspot off your phone (what carrier) or have to locate free wi-fi to work. Thank you for sharing your adventures. Can't wait for more! Oh and cupcakes at anytime of the day (or night) are OK in my book! 😁 Happy Birthday Mike!

We are regular employees! We started with full time data entry jobs but quickly learned that we could not travel at the pace we were going and work full-time so we dropped to part time work. We usually wake up early (before we start filming for the day) to work or stay up late to meet our quota. We also work on days we don't film too. But we honestly only work about 4 days a week. We try and work on KZbin videos during the rest of the week. So we are both doing our work and editing videos on on Mac books 😊 We have a mobile hotspot through the Calyx Institute. We made a video on our internet situation a while ago if you are interested in learning more: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gqGZinqgo8aVa8k Hope that helps answer some of your questions! Thank you for watching, we really appreciate it!

I love Fred Meyer, in the states anyway. It's La Say (French buddy) ya goofy connects, I have one, go to SSD. I do macs as well. Holy crap, ha-ha I have the same pop-up toilet - Heather you failed to mention adding a garbage bag OMG think of the people using it without a bag. LoL! Thank you for showing us how you pee multiple ways, girls like alternatives. I came to the conclusion I needed 2- pee bottles, 1 in the night 1- next morning, be carful where you pour it, LoL. I love Mike's look "If we have no recourse" Safe Travels as always!

YES! BAGS ARE AN ABSOLUTE MUST! lol The bathroom situation was something we were a bit nervous about when we first started out, it is so nice that there are a lot of great options :)

after going in for an oil change.......................always check your oil stick.

The bathroom situation is why I’ll never get my wife to boondock. She always requires a campground with a bathroom. And preferably a shower.

Kind of embarrassing topic, but being vegetarian, you probably don't have a problem with fiber/fibre. But for the other folks out there that are doing long distance travel; eat a high fiber diet or buy some Benefiber/Metamucil. It significantly stops those "red alert" moments, and makes the difference between making it to the next rest stop or pulling off the side of the road as sweat rolls off your forehead. Lol
@mikeandheather Жыл бұрын
Not going to lie, we have had a couple of those moments especially after eating some sub par fast food meals. Thankfully they are few and far between but definitely another reality of van life/roadtripping haha Thank you for watching and the suggestion, we really appreciate it!
