Nice work Samuel, you really brought fun and life into the tech reviews. The fact about making phone dim enough when bringing kids to sleep is so relatable. It makes me want to switch from iPhone 15 pro to 16 pro now that they are able to dim the display to 1 nit. Please test this when you review the phone if you ever did
@saiefjoy29062 ай бұрын
You can easily do this using the "Reduce white point" feature on the 15 pro in accessibility settings. Setting "Reduce white point" to 100% will be about the same as the 16 pro's 1 nit.

Entertaining video! Samsung user here. It's the software features and clever software keeping me with Samsung. I know the other phones have better cameras and value for sure. I'm just waiting for them to catch up with the software. So frustrating, at one time, Samsung was the leader in everything, now it really isn't.

Yes there's a way to dim the screen, I have a quick tile on my Redmi note 10 pro. I believe I got it from an app called "Activity launcher" that basically lets you get access to settings buried that otherwise you couldn't, then all you have to do is set a quick tile and yeah it dims everything once toggled on. So yeah, the extra dim function is native, but buried and not accessible through the normal settings (if that makes sense). The adds in the spotlight I believe can be turned off, since I got no adds whatsoever, none. Full disclosure, I'm on MIUI 14 (Android 13), I don't know how it's like on HyperOS, never got to use it. And yeah, the Android widgets su**, vintage and not in the good way hahaha! I've been a Xiaomi (Redmi) user for the past 3 & 1/2 years but planning to get a top tier Samsung in the future, especially because of AI, since I believe Samsung and Apple are probably in the front of the race regarding AI.

Xiaomi phones "technically'" do actually have the Extra Dim feature, only it isn't baked into MIUI/HyperOS. Needs to be accessed via hidden menus, as it is a native Android feature as of late.

I still have Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G Ne as backup. It was easy to handle with my tiny hands, despite the screen size, because it was superthin. Battery life for such a thin device was incredible in my regular use. I'm a heavy user, but not a gamer. I however ended up switching to Samsung, because I have the Galaxy Watch, Galaxy tags etc. and they don't work as well (or at all) with other phones.

The ads, recommended apps, and auto download, are annoying. I manage my mom's oppo.

For me, if you want a practical wise phone: long battery, fast charge, great camera photos; I'd pick the xiaomi, a good bang for your buck. But if you're a tad bit picky about the user experience and overall operations of the phone, I'd pick samsung, better ui simpler to use and follow, has longer software support, not as beefy in the hardware but still pretty above average its a nice pick. Personally I have a samsung, but I frequently borrow my mum's redmi cuz its bigger screen is nice for watching episodes and movies on plus doesnt drain as much. But man navigating through that phone was just so convoluted and filled with bloatware and ads that it felt like the cheaper price for the china phones are compensated with bloated software programs

Hey, It’s me again. Don’t know if you remember me but I was one of the people who recommended you the Xiaomi 14. Yes the iPhones will always be kings of video but when it comes to compact camera phones the current best would be the Xiaomi 14 and Pixel 9 Pro (recently released). When comparing it to bigger beasts I’d say the Xiaomi 14 Ultra has a bigger kick to it.

I had now the 15 Pro, after using an S24 I like what Samsung is doing with the software, is smooth and has good functions, I only sell it because seeing how Pixel had 12/16GB Ram. I thought the S24 will not be so smooth on 2 years, with that limitation. I have HyperOS on a cheap tablet that I used only for video consumption, but I don't like it at all. And the Pixel has a week processor will probably result on the same problem as the S24, the low performance on the future. The problems for me, the S24 the Ram capacity, the Xiaomi 14 hate HyperOS or MIUI and the Pixel 9 weak processor. I think the next smarthphone will have an interface that I like, a good processor and a good amount of Ram will be the S25.

Really wanted to have the normal S24 in beginning of the year... Of cause samsung also decided to put in Exynos in europe as well and that's why I decided to go with the S24+ because of the battery-.-... To be honest: I never had a issue in performance and the + has a really good screen on time. But yeah still could be better with a Snapdragon. Also then I would have picked the smaller S24... I really hope that samsung improves the Exynos so it can be as good or better in efficiency. But I guess the only reason right now is to reduce the manufacturing prices. =( I hope I'm wrong and it really can challenging IPhones and Snapdragons in future or it get dropped in the bin...
