It is great - and I mean GREAT! - to see a responsible - hard working - articulate and respectful man of your age farming AND doing all the videoing (and all that entails) and keeping up with all of your farm duties and responsibilities. You deserve any and ALL of the success you ever achieve. I know your dad is proud of you but so are all of us viewers I assure you. Your work ethic is an example for any at any age. Very few have the inner makings that you have no matter the age. Thank you so much! for all you do. The Welkors better watch out LOL tho I am sure they are very happy for your success as well. Would be great if you guys could make a video together sometime. Keep on Keepin on. You are definitely among the best our country has to offer. Thank you and God Bless!

I was taught that the hole for the tree root ball needed to be wide enough for some easy root growth with disturbed soil. Having planted trees in PA in the 15 years I lived there, I learned how hard the clay base would pack tight and resist root growth. In all the places I’ve lived, if I am planting trees or shrubs, the hole needed to be deep enough so a mixed layer of cow manure and soil would lift the plant to planting height. I wish your trees well, but if they don’t seem to be thriving, perhaps loosening soil around the root ball would help.

I always dig my holes 3 (three) times the diameter of the pot and fill with a mix of manure (I suspect you may have some laying about somewhere), topsoil and just a wee tiny touch of lime, then add a bit of miracle grow once a week to the watering for the first growing season. It makes for a very healthy, happy tree.

He and his sons are born again Christians and 2 of his sons Pastors. My cousin that worked the dairy farm with my uncle now is raising beef cattle. It is less work and the feed don’t have to be so perfect. One of his sons that a pastor lead me to the Lord. Made a big difference in my life and the way I look at things. God bless Rob

DEEPER!!! Bury the trees deeper in the ground! I always bury trees deeper than that so that the roots have a better chance of finding moisture until they get established. And it helps to prevent them from tipping over without needing to use stakes and ropes.

We've had problems with birds in the bunk as well, especially in the winter. Tried the owl but they catch on. What works best for us is to leave the plastic long enough to cover the face. One more step throwing it over top and dropping back down when your done but it sure beats them stealing all the corn!
