Whatever Joshua decides to do next, he has to keep Davidson in his corner. What an improvement. AJ looked like a guy who was certain in his work and dominant.

Love how you give credit to Parker's performance. So many people are acting like anyone's grandma could have beaten Wilder that night which I think is bullcrap. Parker was fighting at a different level and some of the best focus, discipline and confidence I've ever seen from him. Brilliant performance.

My Favourite fights of the night were (in this order)1. Agit Kabayel - Defeating the Monster, big upset. 2. Daniel Dubois Beating Miller - A real clash and a bit of an upset in some ways, A real heavyweight dust up. 3. AJ showing his classic power again .... And an honourable mention for Joe Parker - Great Job Joe. It would have been good to see Zhang on this card somewhere to see how he would fair against the top guys.

Predicting Parker to get knocked out in 2 rounds by Wilder is a bit disrespectful to Parker and overrates an inactive and old Wilder to be honest. Parker is an experienced former champion with a decent chin, in his prime years. It was never going to be an early stoppage.

@@joewhite22 Agreed, I was a little surprised Rummy thought that would happen, his analysis tends to be much more rational than that but when I heard him say it I knew that prediction likely wouldn't age well.

The best night that was - Wilder finally got properly exposed for the casual fanbase and Dubois stuck two fingers up to a lot of people. AJ looked fantastic. Not sure why people backed Makhmudov though, he is so slow and clumsy. Nothing more satisfying than seeing that scumbag cheat stopped and battered too.

Thanks Rummey for all your work for these great videos. This card truly kicked off the Christmas period. The Parker win I think has thrown shade on 2 things: Wilder was truly on Primo Carnera levels of protection during his title reign and Fury's resume now looks even weaker. I’ve been waiting for this video man🥊🥊 and it lived up to the expectations! Love the channel and hope you continue to do heavyweight predictions, top 15s, reviews etc, even if it’s a top 10-15 fight and not just the top fights. I have been very happy with the change! Some thoughts from me: (only my opinion) I did my own predictions with this fight and missed on all of them. (AJ vs Wallin, Parker vs Wilder and Kabayel vs Mahkmudov) I did not expect AJ to beat wallin as he did for example. But one thing I want to add, is that everyone said AJ struggled with southpaws, no. He faced pound for pound great Usyk and lost twice, but beat Charles Martin. He struggled with the movement and ring iq, and lots of other things with usyk, not just him being southpaw, and that was on full display vs Otto. Although it was a factor for usyk to be southpaw when beating joshua, it was not the be-all, end-all, and it shows here tonight. I’ve learnt from that fight also, that whatever you may think are advantages and style on style the one just has to win, isn’t always right. I picked since wilder had insane KO power + height and reach over Parker, in addition to Parker not having the same power, that Parker would try to outbox and put pressure on him same way ortiz did, but eventually get caught and put to sleep. Boy I was wrong. Even though Parker was shorter, lesser reach and less power + more of a boxer, instead of just standing there and meaninglessly put pressure on him with the above average power he has and get caught, he instead picked his shots, ducked low and avoided the right hand. So height and reach never played an advantage. Wilder doesn’t have anything except the right hand either looking at the fight, there was no hook or uppercut that could hurt Parker. Made it easy for him, with his great gameplan and execution he had a great fight. In addition, Wilder has obviously lots of ring-rust, inactivity which played a part. Only 1 round in over 2 years, and last time he fought more than 1 round he got battered and knocked out cold, which has to take a toll. Lastly, I did suspect Wilder lost the eye of the tiger during his absence. He isn’t hungry anymore. He’s deluded, that’s what he is. No killer instinct, and can’t take a loss. He thinks he won that fight and raises his hand. He’s now saying AJ would retire if Wilder won his fight so AJ wouldn’t have to fight him. I used to pick wilder to beat AJ before 2023 by devestating KO mid-rounds, but boy that perception has changed after the day of reckoning and AJ’s activity. AJ would systematically break him down now, and he’d win by TKO/KO. It’d be something like Fury vs Wilder 2 imo. A final note, Kabayel is the one to watch! He’s shown weaknesses before but damn he’s dangerous. It’s true what you said Rummy. Even tho he was a underdog vs mahkmudov and a points decision would be an upset still. It was the matter of which he beat Mahkmudov which was so impressive. He’s fearless, confident, technical, can plan and execute great gameplans, he is also someone who can box! Damn I’m a huge fan already. After the day of reckoning though, I think a new top 15 heavyweight ranking should be made, because a lot has changed, and every top 10/15 of the ring, TBRB and boxrec is very strange imo. How TBRB has Jared Anderson insanely high at 6th I will never understand with Parker, Zhang, Fury, AJ, Usyk as the clear top 5, and there’s also Hrgovic, Sanchez, Kabayel and Joe Joyce. Hrgovic undefeated and proven in a big fight. Sanchez 24-0 with a great win vs Eje Afagba. Kabayel 2x European champion, beat Derek Chisora back in 2018 and now just beat a undefeated monster in Mahkmudov. And Joe Joyce, former WBO Interim world title holder, European, British and commonwealth champion with two devestating knockouts vs Parker and Dubois. Beat a top 5 guy and lost to one. How the hell are jared anderson above not one or two, but all of these?😅 his biggest names are gatekeeper Jerry Forrest and a washed up Charles Martin + an undefeated 18-0 guy ranked 48th in the world by boxrec. How does that grant 6th? He’s also 8th by ring (7th excluding the champion. He’s unproven, 16-0 with no top 20-25 boxers on his record. Seems a bit biased. The new heavyweight standings need a top 15 after day of reckoning by you Rummy! In my humble opinion of course. Great video as always, keep it up! Edit: typed zhang instead of dubois when writing Joyce had two devestating KO’s.

I think Fury and Wilder are just past their prime. Their epic trilogy took them too far. Both were no longer in the same physical condition as before. I actually disagree with Dubois ;o) . He won the fight, but showed pretty poor ring intelligence in my opinion. He didn't fight the way the corner wanted and took unnecessary punches. He could have won the fight much more easily if he hadn't gotten involved in the unnecessary infights. Kabayel (which of course makes me particularly happy as a German), Parker and Sanchez impressed me more personally. I'm definitely happy that the heavyweight division is so interesting at the moment. I'm also very excited to see who will fight on the undercard of Usyk vs Wilder.

Another good vid, thanks mate. I had to smile when he mentioned Fury and Wilder's resumes.....who have they fought. Both are over hyped, but I believe Fury has the tools to create a decent resume. Wilder has been so protected and I always believed he'd come unstuck when he came up against the top ten. Everyone's surprised Parker beat him....why! I bet on Parker stopping him and that he didn't was the only surprise to me.

I think if that is all Deontay Wilder can do these days, then he has clearly lost his fire and he needs to hang the gloves up. I honestly think that Wilder left most of himself in the ring with Fury, he put everything he had in that trilogy and the Wilder that was left is just not the same guy. I know this isn't a popular opinion, but I would like to see Fury get himself motivated and back in the game, beat Usyk, and then Joshua get his shot at Fury. If the Joshua who was in the ring against Wallin can stay around, if he can start learning to make adjustments and accept the hard truths of why he lost to Usyk, he could be a real threat to anyone in the division even Usyk.

About Joshua: You can clearly see that he learned a lot from the Usyk fights. And looking back at the fights beforehand, he might out went through trial and error in the keep-busy-fights. He looked fast, never went on any too risky attacks, where he might get caught. His footwork was very good, staying at the outside, the punchpicking was superb. Enjoyable to see him in that shape, gives me hope for more competetive fights at the top. On the conside some might say, he knew Wallin well. But Wallin isn't the same guy he fought in the Amateurs, and just came of a strong win against Gaziev, has won all his fights since the Fury loss, where he put up a good one too. Fun to watch :)

The problem with predicting fights is that we can only really base our predictions on a fighter's past performances. And that won't always line up with how things play out. Take Wilder vs Fury 2 for instance. You assume Wilder will fight a similar way (which I did back then, and he did) and maybe you assume Fury will also (which I did, and he didn't). If Fury had fought the same way as the 1st time he may well have lost the rematch. Instead Fury made adjustments and ran Wilder over. There's too many variables in play in heavyweight boxing that things won't always go how you picture them to.
@Verminator4
@Verminator4 4 ай бұрын
I predicted Wilder to get to Parker sooner rather than later, so IDKSAB either. He looked so bad, unbelievably stiff with his timing totally off. I know people tend to rate Wilder's boxing skills poorly, and I get why, but he always had a knack for eventually figuring out that timing - I think it was that just as much as his raw punching power that got him so many knockouts, it was just as much about landing cleanly than hitting hard. That aspect of his game was just totally gone against Parker, though a lot of that was down to Parker's excellent tactics - Andy Lee deserves a lot of credit for the work he's done with Parker, and of course Parker himself deserves a ton of credit for putting in a lot of hard work to get back into contention after what must have been a demoralising loss against Joyce - he's been the most active out of the top echelon of heavyweights lately and clearly it's paid off hugely. He'll get another big fight soon I'm sure. Wilder on the other hand should probably retire off the back of this showing.

Damn Rummy really fell for the marketing hype train behind Wilder saying he gave him 2rds to stop Parker but peeps like me expected Parker to win by stoppage which almost happened but got a 12-0 domination For me predicting fights are pretty easy not saying anomalies dont happen but for me I watch for who a fighter been in the ring with Parker been in there with tuff opposition where he would gain lots of experience win lose or draw as for Wilder not so much only Fury is of note his resume are a bunch of low and mid tier level fighters

People got really blind to the Wilder hype, particularly the American fanbase. A knock out of Parker in round 2 was pretty naive. It's not even like Wilder has got many knock outs that early since he's started fighting a better class of opponent (last 15 fights or so). He has the most padded record of anyone in HW division history.
@NoorsUnpopularOpinions
@NoorsUnpopularOpinions 4 ай бұрын
On the contrary, Wilder was an elite puncher and in the HW division that is a huge advantage. Wilder is not known for being a technical boxer but such power should always be factored in his division. I agree with Rummy that Wilder should hang the gloves because at his age and his vulnerabilities exposed by Fury he doesn't stand a chance against the top guys anymore. The real marketing hype train is behind Joshua who got beat by any decent technical boxer he faced in his career. I don't see Joshua beating Usyk or Fury.

Great review: yes for me seeing Parker let his hands go was the highlight, he looks awesome again. Kabayel could cause some problems at the top too, very intelligent performance targetting the big Russian's body. AJ vs Hrgovic potentially next. Also happy for Daniel Dubois who has now come of age, people were righly worried for him against a huge bully like Miller but he manned up. Actually Miller comes out with credit too, if he takes boxing seriously he could figure again. Not sure Opetaia could take on the giants but we thought that about Usyk didn't we! He could be the new Wilder with that huge punch.

One good punch can change the direction of any match, mentality and styles can cause match-ups to differ widely from what a record would indicate. In such an already unpredictable sport we now have far more competitors compared to the old days, with the world being more populous and connected, especially post-Cold War, but at the same time fighters fight less frequently, compete for more titles and care more about a unblemished record. Everything taken together and there really is no way to properly determine the best boxers of the world with anywhere near the consistency of Harry Greb or Sugar Ray Robinsons times. Nobody knows shit about boxing really.

I really wasn't surprised by Parker beating Wilder, because Wilder only really has the right hand, and looking back at the Luis Ortiz fights, he didn't look convincing until he got the knockout. Parker is a very good fighter and With AJ, the thing I liked in the build up, was he stopped saying he was learning. Since, the second Andy Ruiz fight, AJ has been looking to change his style, and that has meant that he hasn't been the fighter he once was. But with this fight, whatever Ben Davidson has done with AJ, they have made him go back to the fighter he once was, but with what he has learnt from the last few years. It also helps that he knew Robert Helenius and what he would bring to the table, and that I think made a difference to his confidence. As for Dubois vs Miller, I didn't fancy Miller. Coming in at 23 stone, he didn't have the fitness for 10 rounds and that showed during the fight. Dobois is all about confidence, and when his head goes down, that is when he quits. He didn't do that with Miller and I think he knew from the off, that he would outlast Miller. In the end, I think these three fights, show what difference a good mindset does for a fighter, and it will be interesting to see what happens in the division in 2024. Also, with AJ, Parker and Dubois being comparatively busy over the last year will we see other heavyweights, realising that fighting actually helps a fighter and long lay-offs, really will leave a fighter with ring rust.

As a reminder Rummy’s predictions were: - Miller KO Dubois in the 3rd - Wilder KO Parker in the 2nd - Joshua Wallin competitive Just always bet the opposite of what Rummy says!

Wilder is the Biggest paper champ in boxing, beat one good opponent in Ortiz, first time he went up against two elite top 10 heavyweights ended looking like a clown, he’s been boxing for 15+ years and still hasn’t learned the basics

Parker isn't even elite IMO either. Maybe in the tier below it.

Well done, Joseph Parker; great performance that would probably have given a few of the major names some real problems. As for Wilder, why the hell did he raise his hand when the winner was about to be announced. He actually said after the fight that he thought he had won! Retiring from professional boxing was Wilder's smartest move yet. Have a great retirement, Deontay.

I wasn't shocked at Parker winning at all but the dominant fashion in which he did so was really impressive! AJ, Dubois & Kabayel were all brilliant 🥊

How about Parker v Dubois next proper 50:50 contest on paper, both lost to Joyce but both found redemption. I'd pick Joe on points but I believe Daniel will have a better career.

Well done AJ. Good to hear the obvious absence of unfair criticism by the usual, hyper-spindoctors that are well known to the British boxing fraternity, whom represent the major sports there. Excellent boxing from Anthony. I think All-in Otto felt Joshua's power early on in the fight and after that he boxed very sheepishly.
