As a Parish Clerk, I frequently come across issues relating to ownership and/or occupancy and/or rights of or over land or property. It would make life so much easier if the Land Registry documents were much clearer about who owns what and who has rights etc. It 'should' be fairly simple to show in a single document the entire history of a piece of land/property surely?

If only Peter. Unfortunately some rights are acquired over a period of time and so the register doesn't reflect everything affecting the land. Some rights are relatively short (e.g. a tenancy for 6 months) and so it's not worth cluttering the Register with them. I agree that it would make life a lot simpler but it's not always clear cut. Hopefully my videos will help shed some light on the problems you encounter.

Hello, if you are not given any clue in the facts or the question itself then you should answer in the alternative. However, that would be very unusual so double check just to be absolutley sure.

Hi Phoebe, It does get better. I promise! I have taught hundreds of land law students over the years and they all found property law very confusing and difficult at first. Stick with it. Hopefully, it should all start to fit together and make more sense soon. Good luck. Amanda
