I got a Cross Century II for my 18th birthday, most beautiful, well-balanced pen I have ever used. Used it everywhere, which is why I lost it. Now swear by the slightly cheaper Waterman hemisphere series,or the much cheaper but still a lovely nib and writing experience of Hongdian. Fountain pen chat there.

Great pen chat. That pen sounds great. I have asked for a Pilot Custom 74 as a joint present from all my family. There is a company called Stilo & Stile in Italy who sell pens much cheaper. I have never tried a Waterman.

Just watched the whole series in one sitting. Love Norfolk. I visited often as a child as my Aunt lived there. Wow, you did SO well walking all that way...I was up at Horsey for a long weekend around the same time as you filmed this! The seals were the highlight but there were crowds of people when I went as the seals were pupping on the beaches & we watched all the action from the cliff. Had a strange uncanny experience at Hopton once upon a time.. Car radio hadn't worked in years & we parked outside Hopton Church which apparently is on an ancient ley line which passes through the altar area. When we started the car up again to leave... hey presto... the radio started to work! Maybe you should have finished at the Church to put some power back into those walking boots! x J x
@cdwc
@cdwc 2 жыл бұрын
That does sound like a weird experience with the car radio. Maybe I should take my old computer to Hopton Church to try and get that working again. When I got to the seals it had just stopped raining heavily so I think that was why I was the only person there. I still think about it.

Nice one cool dude Used to frequent Gt. Yarmouth and the beach at Gorleston a lot in my youth as Nan ran a caravan rental business so it was free accomodation. I wanted to go to Spain with all the chavs but hey ho. Hopton looked epic as a place to watch the world crash into the moon, last meal of Fish n' Chips not too shabby. Fountain pen I used for a while was a Japanese Preppy, fine-ish nib but not scratchy and never leaked. Almost got the freedom of Norfolk but lost one round I played with the missus watching so I reckon she put the mockers on it Grand series, look forward to the next one

I treated myself to a Cross fountain pen a couple of years ago when I inherited some money. It's rose-gold with a nice etched texture which makes it very pleasing to hold, it's a good weight, and my favourite thing about it is I paid extra to have it monogrammed so when I use it I can pretend I'm fancier than I really am. It has a converter so I can fill it with bottled ink which somehow seems less faff-y than cartridges, and it's my favourite pen I've ever used.
@cdwc

That pen sounds excellent. I bought a TWISBI AL580 at the pen show I went to. It also is filled with a piston type thing. I also bought some wonderful Diamine Onyx black which looks great. I have asked for a posh fountain pen for my family for Christmas. I am now a pen geek.

Great walk and videos Cool Dude. What do you have lined up next. Have you ever thought of the Coast to Coast Walk. The wife and I did it 10 or so years ago. You could do a build up series, then the walk itself. Its around 190 miles, so a big one.

Yes, I have the Wainwright guide book and often find myself looking at it. I need to find a way to budget for 14 or 15 days. I think B&B would be too expensive unless I got sponsorship. I would dearly love to do it. Did you camp and did you enjoy it?

@@cdwc We loved it. Without a doubt the best walk we have ever done. I am self-employed, so I wanted to get it done quick. We added a few days together and did it in 9 days. I wish I could have taken longer. A few rest days would have been good, but as you say, 14 -15 days. We may well go back and do it again one day. We did do B&B and used a company that transport your main luggage to the next stop. We would have been about your age when we did it. It would make an amazing set of videos. It can be done in two sections. We met a lot of people who were doing that. Half one year then back the next year to finish off. As we walked down to the sea at Robin Hoods Bay, we both wept. I think you could easily raise the money through here and a go fund me page. Come on Cool Dude, you can do it.

Hopton would be a great location for a zombie/ghost film.

Okay, next question! I've been meaning to ask about the scoring system for the people category. Does the more Mareks mean the more people? Or is it fewer Mareks the more crowded the path is? Or is it about the quality of people?
@cdwc

Yes that one is never clear. More Marek's means more people in that one, so the fewer Marek's the better.

Shooting the wrong seal is the only thing that denied me the Freedom of Norfolk. I'm hoping I've atoned for this by subscribing. I'm sure it's what the seal would've wanted.
