This was far too much cosmetic concerns. You want to check structural issues, valve cover gaskets, age of clutch, signs of water pump leakage, suspension integrity, steering components, brake lines on top of gas tank, and for snow regions, has it been consistently rust proofed? Check rear axle shock supports, has the trailer hitch been used a lot? (Excessive towing and transmission wear) Check all fluids and if they are clean. Shift from forward to reverse and listen for wear in universal joints, check the under carriage for any off road damage, rust. Exhaust system integrity, … just to name a few. There are common issues with these trucks, particularly with steering and suspension issues. Generally these 3rd gen trucks are bullet proof, as long as they are well looked after. But you need to look deeper than just a cosmetic walk around. This truck in the video is spectacular, but I feel like the video was made to show off how meticulous and maybe obsessed the owner is. Regardless, great truck, but there is a lot more to check than what this video talks about.

I’m looking at a 2000 limited 4x4 for $4000 with 240k miles for my first car. Going to go get the pre purchase inspection in a couple days to figure out if we can fix the check engine light for cheap. It runs and drives perfect

Is it actually problematic that the battery terminals have some corrosion? Also, I think you forgot to check out the rear window

The battery terminal corrosion can be problematic (give you starting problems) if it is not cleaned off. Otherwise, just clean it off and it will be fine.

How much does it spend on fuel city/traffic (Diesel one 3.0) and is it good for highway (road noise wise)?

at 210k miles .... this car ever give you a major problem?

I didn't have any major problems until I hit 220k. That's when my rear main seal started leaking and the engine seal started leaking badly. It wasn't the end of the world but the total costs of those 2 repairs together would have been about $1,700 at a discounted price. I didn't worry about it though because it didn't affect the way the truck drove and ended up selling it without fixing those issues. I did however replace the clutch and flywheel around the same time that i did myself. It was about a $500 repair. Other than that it was a beautiful truck and wish I still had it now

That's a nice truck. Is it 4x4? if it is I would go for it in a heart beat at the right price. I would love to have one of these trucks again. You will enjoy it very much if you do buy it. Let me know how it goes

Daily Driver, do you think a 2000 SR5 automatic with 120,000 miles for $5000 is a good price. The condition is very nice. I also see that people write about the frames are always bad, is that true as they get older.
