depending where you live they can have rust issues like if you live on the east coast they have horrible rust on these red gen 4runners. thanks for the comment and watching👌

Yes, very helpful - thanks! I recently purchased a 2002 SR5 4x2, Auto. Great condition, low miles and great price - even though ideal T4R would be a 4x4 5spd. Was Sport Edition the Highlander version? Not sure if that was the E-Locker button or alarm indicator left of the steering column on the front panel. Thanks.

Thank you Ramiro Garcia. No, it's not the highlander edition. The Toyota 4runner highlander edition came with the rear E-locker from the factory. Those are even more difficult to find than this one. You will love your truck, useful for any adventure to the snow or off roading or just for daily driving.

yes, this one had a skid plate/rock guard underneath that you could not see from the outside unless you looked under the vehicle. However, the last year of the 3rd generation 4runner, the 2002 4runner sport came with a visible skid plate that you could see from the outside. I did not like the plates they put on the 2002 because they were cheap looking. the 4wd 4runner came with a more durable, stronger plate for better off-roading in my opinion.

Might want to add that some drips under the car can just be condensation from the A/C evaporator coil.

I'm about to look a manual 98. It has 167k on it. I'm hesitant about buying such a high mile car. I want to build it up for a wekend car and need it reliable to go on trips ect..How long will the motor realistically last?

It depends what condition the motor is in already and what maintenance it may need. If the car has had the proper services done on time it will last you a long time. If I were you I would pay a mechanic to do a pre-inspection before you consider purchasing the vehicle.

I would also say that you can keep the car going as long as you have the money to keep it going. you could drive it forever if you keep up maintenance on it

Checking the oil cap for any signs of white or light brown foam is a huge item you missed!

There is much to be looked over. I always check the oil cap for leaks and other signs of wear inside and around the engine.

the daily driver I agree but if you did there would be no reason to look at any thing else, might be checking out a 98 4x4 sr5 5speed in a day or so

They have plastic hooks on the floor that hook through the floor mat itself, holding it in place.

It came from the factory with the 5-speed manual. Among the most rare and sought after 4Runner's ever built. I wish I never sold it

yes they are extremely rare to find especially in good condition inside and out.

these trucks are very hard to come by especially with under 200k miles. there is an inflated price on theses trucks with under 2ook miles in a clean condition. over 200k the price will drop but not significantly, they hold their value well. if it has the rear locking differential which is the toyota 4runner highlander edition, it is rare and worth every penny and more with the miles. keep an eye out fir rear differential seal leaks as well as crank seal leaks. these are an expensive fix and can be used in the negotiation value and price.

go see and drive the truck first. review the consumer reviews on that specific truck using multiple sites and use that knowledge to make an accurate offer on the truck. don't be afraid to speak your offer, if it works it works, if it doesn't it doesn't. move onto the next worst case scenario.

It does have a sunroof/moonroof on it. I just didn't cover over that. It has a pop up wind deflector that prevents the wind from entering the vehicle when the sunroof is open. cool feature!

Carlos, I do know someone who has a turbo diesel toyota 4runner and they had it imported from Costa Rica. There is no way they would sell it though. I've already asked lol.
