The young, already great, Stevie Winwood on vocals. He went onto Traffic, Blind Faith and a great solo career. You could well be reacting to him for a very long time, one of the best. Try Low Spark of High Heeled Boys, it is a magical tune, his vocals with this amazing music is hypnotic. Enjoy! 🎵🎤🎹🎸🎶

I had been hearing conflicting information about his age when this was recorded, but I confirmed his birthday, May 1948, and the song was recorded in June 1966, so he was indeed 18. I keep hearing on the radio he was 15-16 years old, but it seems like that's when he joined the band.

The evening of September 22, 1987 I was attending a concert by the Grateful Dead at The Spectrum in Philadelphia, Pa.. When the second set began, Guitarist Bob Weir stepped to the microphone and said "I'd like to introduce Spencer Davis". The crowd roared loudly, because we knew what was going to happen. "Gimme Some Lovin' ", with Spencer on lead vocals and the Grateful Dead as his backing band. Needless to say it went very well and the place went nuts at the end of the song, and Bob then said "Say Thank You Spencer". We all did. The Dead wee always very polite to their guests. There is video and excellent audio of the event on KZbin. Maybe you would check that out.? It's FUN to see. Thanks Angela.

Boy does this take me back. Summers at the local pool and someone would play this song on the juke box. Made everyone want to get up and dance. BTW the recording used here sounds a little funky. Maybe modified to enhance the stereo separation?. Winwoods vocals sound a little muddy.
