I have listen to this song a hundred times and still get emotional and goose bumps from Donna's amazing vocals, unmatched.

The song is from the VH1 concert Live and More Encore from 1999, the musical Donna was talking about is called Ordinary Girl (it has not come to fruition yet). The song is obviously auto biographical. It's the point in her life after her marriage to Helmuth Sommer and the birth of their daughter Mimi (1973) living in Germany, when she leaves the marriage and comes home to the US to pursue music and the rest is history.

I love you so much for this reaction! It is so good to see appreciation for her music outside disco! That woman made music for almost 50 years, there is so much more to her voice than dance music. Love your story and how you relate to the story!

Donna Summer released "There Will A Be A You" on her 1979 "Bad Girls" album. It's haunting and beautiful! In a BBC Music review of the album, Daryl Easla wrote, "Bad Girls is a fantastic reminder of when [Summer] was the Britney, Christina, Mary J and Missy of her day all rolled into one."

One of the most emotionally hard hitting songs she did. Didn’t think it was known to many, other than fans. I’ve heard this song is about the divorce from her first husband. I interpreted as receiving a higher calling and one has an overwhelming compulsion to follow, knowing that it may cost you everything. There are other songs (all performed live) from the play from this same album, VH1 Live and More Encore. This is a great live album and the sound is fantastic. Well worth a listen. Yes, it was released in 1999. One of my favorites from her.

There’s a video of her on J Leno singing “anyway at all” one night, and you should absolutely react to that. All of her best performances are live. She was somebody who I saw in concert Several times. She was always better live than on record it was an amazing thing to hear her sing live.

This was performed first on her 1999 Live and More Encore special. It was for the musical she was writing., (Ordinary Girl") which unfortunately never happened. The other songs are great too. If you get the "Live and More Album" I think 2 or 3 of the 4 new songs are on that.

From my research I believe this song is refencing the beginning of Donna Summer's career way back in the 60s. If you read her book you will know what I am talking about. PS, the title of the book is "Ordinary Girl The Journey Donna Summer"

I'd like to recommend you feature Donna performing Mc Arthur 🏞️ Park one day soon! The 17 plus minute version! I don't know if you can swing that, but give it a 💉🥃 shot! This one here is very melodious and profound! 😍 Pretty groovy! I still haven't forgotten about Joni Sledge and the song she performed as part of Sister Sledge, Lost In Music! I hope you do it before I join her in the next realm, whatever that may be! Until next time, goodbye!

Donna sang it beautifully. I could feel the emotion but I didn’t connect with the song. And it’s nothing personal against “If There Is Music There” bc there have been numerous show tunes (incl very popular ones) that rendered me indifferent.
