Some great memories on there. I was born in Eccles and Pat hospital in 1952, lived in Boardman Street until we moved to Brookhouse in 1955 when it was built. Lived there until I left to get married and visited my parents until they got old and moved away around 2004. I had a very happy childhood and Eccles was a great place to grow up, not too big and not too small and with the big world of Mahchester to explore as I got older. Makes me feel sad, happy and grateful all at the same time.

I was born in 1963 this video including all the photographs have brought back a lot of good memories of my hometown. At 4.57 there is a still image of Lane End and the houses that have been demolished our house was just where the substation now stands it was number 13 and the last one beyond the row that still stand's. 3 houses were demolished on that row obviously including ours. I visit a couple of times a year as most of my siblings still live there. I recently walked around the precinct and the town centre what a mess. Salford council have ruined what was a lovely market town. I know lots of town's have suffered decline but Eccles is pretty much a Ghost town. Can the Eccles people not demand for Salford to be gotten ridden of as the Guardian of the town as they have done nothing of any good! Great video and photos by the way thankyou for posting this here and well done.

Salford City Council are regenerating the area. The carpark is being demolished and there are spending millions on it, work starts June 2024. The town has become overcome with Shoplifters, Druggies and Beggers. But in the plans I believe a new task force is to be set up between Salford Council and GMP to rid the town of them all and to come down hard on the people and businesses that buy from these Shoplifters. I honestly believe Eccles the Old Eccles is on its way back.
