Random favorite little detail of mine. The pause screens show a day counter since the fall of the world and it goes up for each day/night cycle you go through. But a weird little detail I found I like is in flashbacks if you pause the day counter is at “0 days gone”

I actually think Deacon is a great character. His portrayal as someone who is maniacally going back and forth from "my wife is dead, no way she survived" to "she must still be alive, there's gotta be hope" and the way he doesn't want to get too attached to any of the communities seems pretty realistic, given the circumstances. And (not spoiling anything) because of those moments when he does drop his guard and gets a little bit comfortable with someone and does something good, at the end of the game the others support him as well when he ends up needing some assistance. Sure, he doesn't change too much throughout the game, but by the time you're finished with the story, it is clear his "lone wolf" mentality was wrong and he obviously gets straight up proven wrong. And that's a totally fine resolution. The story is just a slice of these characters' lives, and that's what ultimately led me to fall in love with the game!

@@joshuagraham2843 Ultimately it will depend on whether Sony sees a profit in the sequel or not, right now they don't since the reviews were kinda mediocre. I still think there's a chance, maybe if the game gets a cult following from the fans, but it probably won't happen anytime soon.

Originally Days gone had story altering choices but they cut those aspects out which leaves the story of the game a little off as there are moments that feel best described as feeling a little "off".

The creators of the game removed it because it didn't fit with the direction the game was going, so they removed. There is a interview on David Jaffes channel with the creators of Days Gone and they bring it up.

Yeah, like learning the wife was still alive and you finally - halfway through the game - go to meet her - and they're both acting like they've never seen each other before. It was so jarring I thought I had had a blackout or something and was missing hours of exposition or had dreamed up the whole thing. I've been hearing hours of dialogue, visiting her grave, seeing her in backflashes, getting to know that very special and interesting person...and here she is! In the flesh! Alive and well! and Deacon's like, "Nah, I'm good."

@Top Noodle Good to hear that. I think Days Gone is an Unreal Engine 4 title. Probably much easier to optimize than Horizon Zero Dawn was. Plus, the whole game originally being designed around base PS4's limits probably provided some extra breathing room for decent mid-range builds.

@@johnnybravo4727 Idk if you've played Dying Light. But, if you haven't you should absolutely give it a go too. And get it on PC if possible. It's extremely well optimized. I run it 1440p/60 locked on an i5-7400/1060 3gb on mostly high settings.

This is a damn good game that never got given the fair shake it deserved by a lot of people, the slow start convinced tons of people the whole game was boring but after you get past those early parts it's fucking amazing to play. Deacon is a great character as well, i love his insane ramblings as he narrates everything he does because it makes sense for the guy to be at least a little crazy after two years of constant stress and freak attacks.

I was turned off by some major game review sites when this first came out on ps4. Recently just started playing on ps5 and you know what despite its flaws it’s a solid game . It does suffer from the usual open world repetitive type missions that can feel like a chore if you do them back to back but nothing beats mowing down a horde of the infected. This game deserves a sequel with some improvements. I feel like settlements needing to be defended from hordes would be a cool mechanic and having to deal with the aftermath of a settlement you couldn’t save would be neat.

Played through this game on PS5 and it was legitimately one of my favorite games of all time. Please give this game a chance. It might be the most under appreciated game I’ve ever played. It was extremely addictive and just such a joy to play. Incredible graphics and sound too. I’d do anything I could to encourage a sequel.

On my RYZEN 7 1700 GTX 970 G1 GAMING 16 GB DDR4 3200MHZCL15 MP 600 2TB WRITE: 4950 MB/S READl:4250MB/S DELL[2416D 24'' 2560X1440 60 HZ IPS it runs maxed 1440p with 50+ fps average while Horizon zero dawn runs maxed 1440p 31 fps average 39 fps so at least from this i can say it is better optimized. I play all action games so as someone who plays all action gmaes yes i recomend it!

Honestly the most enjoyment I have had from the game and pretty close but sadly tech issues again. Patches for sure incoming. Microstuttering which you may see here. Tested on 3 machines with 3 drivers. FPS wise its...not always bad in fact many times it is good but it has some issues. That being said..man at times I really had a good time PLEASE SHARE! So I got this as a freebie with PS Plus, and I'm running it on the PS4 pro. Other than the occasional misplaced open world dialog, I haven't hit any issues. It's much more fun than I thought it would be when it was released, and its waaaaay longer than I expected. It's a thumbs up from me.

I just finished fhe game. I did everything and my God, what an experience. It was intense. This game is amazing. Played it on PS4 and i had no issues except for some framerate drops but nothing dramatic. The hordes are impressive and it is a adrenaline rush. Wonderful. 9/10.

I played it through on my PS4 Pro several times I’m looking forward to playing it on PC even if there are issues. Unfortunately steam is having issues for me right now so I’ll have to sleep instead of cranking the difficulty all the way up and stumbling into a horde unprepared in the middle of the night. Alls you need for your playthrough is a couple mods.... better knife damage, better crossbow damage, faster bike... just them 3 will make a huge difference in a playthrough, still a great game regardless but for a first timer I'd definitely suggest them 3 tweaks

I am currently replaying it on PS5. I have a PC as well. It is a really good first entry. I have noticed the bike controls way better at 60fps. Hopefully any issues get patched soon for PC players. One thing I noticed is characters don't actually walk down stairs. They float about a couple of inches above ground and once you see it you can't unsee it.

Watching it on KZbin seem different when you play it at ultra setting. Max out resolution render at 200% it look crazy and beautiful.

Just wanna clarify: the optimisation on this game is actually very impressive. I'm able to get a stable 60 FPS in 1080p high settings on my ancient machine: i7 3770, GTX 970 One of the best looking + running games I've seen in a long, long time. We usually get one or the other.

I highly recommend this game. I know when it first came out it did not meet standards and it was held back, but after playing on ps5 I would highly recommend it. Idk if I would play full price, but would definitely get it for the story and hordes of zombies.

This was for me, one of the greatest game story/plots of all time up there with Arthur Morgan. Another game that got you to love the characters. 10/10 for me. I liked Decon, did ya see how happy he was in the end. he fought hard for that and well deserved.

i found it in the clearance section of cd keys for 6 bucks and figured why not. My wife played this game consistently on the ps5 and my PC rig was powerful enough to overcome all the quirky performance issues (i9 12900k, 64gb, 4070s, LG OLED). think you nailed the review, and i could never explain why i had so much fun playing this game... i always said it had just enough of everything to keep me playing and looks great to the point that i don't care its not perfect. and i don't even know how that makes any sense...

I'm currently playing the game myself on my PC and I'm blown away that my GTX 1080 is handling this game with buttery smooth framerates, and the visual fidelity is just breath taking. This is such a great game to play in a market where it's impossible to find an rtx card. definitly enjoying my time and I can't wait to do a complete walkthrough.

i just bought this game on december 2021 for the first time ever, the game is amazing, probably the third best game i have ever played in my life (top 2 are gtav and rdr2) i have an i9 11900k, rtx 3080, 32gb ram, game runs like butter no issues at all so they might have fixed all the problems mentioned in this review again, PHENOMENAL title, 10/10

I agree with him. Yes it is better optimized than Horizon was at release but there are still hiccups here and there. For example, I was able to play Horizon at 4K from the very beginning, while this game for me is unplayable at 4K and I’m locked in at 1080 p. Plus I have been able to get barely past 30 FPS in this game, while at highest graphics on Horizon I’m getting 60+ FPS. Horizon had option for remapping controller buttons while this game doesn’t (I don’t want to use left trigger to run but am forced to). So yeah, while i noticed it is better optimized there are still some issues.

I'm well into the game and it's fantastically solid. It literally makes me wonder if he played much of it or if he forgot he was still playing on a 1080Ti instead of a 2080 Ti

I love this game, i served in iraq with the same unit as Deacon St. john. 10th MTN INF. That automatically makes me like him more than most charachters. Not just that though, hes a badass and i really enjoyed the story and gameplay. This is a 10/10 zombie game for me.

It's a very good game. I'm glad there is some subtle thought put into design of open world and not over doing it, like some other titles. It's mainstream critics score isn't reflected on that. ACG does a great job for reviews,as we all know.
