Hey buddy! This run more or less worked for! I skipped picking up the superior axe or whatever and had 13 crafty, 3 beserked, 1 camp ghost& finished in 3:20 was the last gold I needed so thank you for helping me understand the challenge better👍

Bloody brilliant job Ashley. You clearly went to town with the explosives, and you improvised a bit too, very nice. You now have the best patch perk in the game unlocked, so if you ever decide to take on the main Days Gone game again or take on the endless horde challenges (Surrounded, Infested & Black Friday), you will find dealing with the hordes a lot easier.

Many thanks Derek. There was a LOT of failed attempts before I started to look at the challenge a bit differently. It all now centres on getting the character overpowered quickly. Once you have the 2 big hitters in the camp on your side & you have the best melee weapon & sniper rifle, it's a great position to take on the rest of the camp successfully. @@matthewcolquhoun8486 There is my friend, the residue bolt needs to hit the middle left thigh of the heavy, but here's another hugely important thing to check. Make sure you actually have the residue bolt armed, as sometimes you think you have the residue bolts ready but only fire a normal bolt. I've had this happen to me a lot. Make sure to select the residue bolts twice in a row to be sure you definitely have that bolt armed. Hope this helps Matthew.

This route works great, and you can easily improvise a few detours, especially if you don't want to go for the axe. I like to get the special weapon suppressor in the left shack (with windows) behind where you grenade the guy with the red bandanna. Lots of quick loot in there and you're shielded somewhat from the marauder.

Lots of ways to improvise for sure Jeff. The suppressor is of no use to me though, as my run alerts the whole camp very quickly, and I like them to know where I am. You get kills more quickly when they all zero in on your position. Appreciate you checking out my library of vids Jeff.

The multiplier is an unusual one on this challenge, but a really good one, as it's far easier to maintain due to the fact that the challenge gives you far more time than you get on any other challenge. As you rightly pointed out, it goes up when you pick up items, it goes up for kills & it also goes up for crafting cocktails as well. For this reason, the multiplier won't go down unless you stop being active. And thank you for watching the podcast. Claire was amazing and really made me feel relaxed (because I was genuinely nervous before doing it). She's an amazing lady who deserves huge success.

I normally approach the challenges tactically (read slowly!), and even on completion, I get a small fraction of the scores that I see online. I guess I'd better get busy!

@@Fredman2410 The multipliers are set to different time drops for each particular challenge that uses them Neil. The endless horde challenges are the hardest to keep the multiplier going. You need to be keeping busy all the time, and killing the freakers is the only way to do it. This challenge gives you a few ways to increase the multiplier & the time you get for everything you accrue onto the multiplier lasts much longer (than the endless hordes for example), so is far easier to maintain. Hope all that makes sense my friend.

If only the berserk thing would work...every single time I shoot the heavies with residue bolts, they suddenly turn into storm troopers and miss every single shot while getting clubbed to death by their mates. Hardly getting one or two berserk kills at most and it's extremely frustrating how much rng this is

Of all the challenges, this one is one of the toughest due to the unpredictability of the marauders. The residue bolt kills very hugely from run to run, so you just have to be patient, and make the most of a run where they work in your favour.

The method as good as it is, does require you to run the gauntlet. So many variables can take you out quickly on this challenge. There is now a far safer way to do this challenge. I'm sorry but this never comes close to working for me. 9/10 times the 2nd residue guy sits at the back of the peir and kills no one or the first residue guy follows me to the 2nd residue guy. By the time i get the roof of the barn they've only killed 1 or 2 people and I'll have maybe 8k points. Then it's impossible to get to get across the map to the sniper since 15 guys are looking at me. Either I'm not timing it right, or I'm extremely unlucky with how these AI work

I tried this strategy exactly and the residue bolt never seems to work immediately l, I still get lit up by the armored guy after hitting him with the bolt. The enemies also are never cooperative like your enemies are I’m not sure why

I will be honest mate, the marauders behaviour once the action kicks off, varies hugely from run to run, but the Armoured guy just needs to be hit in the right area. I always mention upper left thigh, but it's actually between the knee & upper thigh that needs to be hit. Just make sure you're in close and you should get results.

I love this challenge but I can't seem to get more than silver at the moment. I'm too cautious. In your run you just go for it. And I keep missing the first guys upper left thigh. Urgh. And look at you there, ranked #4 in the global scores! Edit: I found my own way to a mediocre gold. Ignore the time, just get gold in "camp ghost" and beserked", silver in crafty. It didn't even require turning the heavily armoured guy at the start of berserked. I also used vampire to injure marauders so the beserked guys could kill them more easily.

Some good tactics employed there to get the job done MB. I will admit, my method is good, but it's not for the faint hearted. I totally understand that a lot of people will struggle a bit with it. And the World No.4 ranking, I honestly went so hard on the rankings (not just this challenge, I hold 4 world No.1 rankings right now) to just show that anyone watching my videos is getting good advice from someone who knows what they are doing on the challenges. The prestige of holding the world records is nice, but I honestly get more satisfaction from the tutorials that help the Days Gone community.

When that was complete, I hadn't been seen and still had marauders left to kill, so I started to go crafty on their asses. Genuinely didn't expect a gold at the end of it (25,350 score). But for those who don't want to rush around exposing themselves it's still possible to get a gold.

Just make sure you are in close before firing the bolt. The mistake most people make is firing from distance with the bolt. You just have to be quick running in, then make sure you activate focus to give yourself the time to zero in on the target.

I feel the pain here mate. I always state upper left thigh when going for this armoured guy, but I am normally going for the area between the marauders left knee & upper thigh section. On Tuesday I actually have a new video showing how to take care of all the sub challenges on a particular challenge, and this weeks is, you guessed it, the ambush camp rush challenge. I show another safe way to get the residue bolt hit, and it has built in safety because if you miss from the area where I shoot, the armoured guy doesn't immediately see you, so you get another chance with another bolt. Check it out on Tue mate, and hopefully this will help you out.

Well mate, it's all about getting in close for the shot, then making sure you hit the upper left thigh. But, if you are still not getting this done, make sure that you definitely have the residue bolt armed. The inventory wheel can be a bitch for not giving you what you have selected. I've had many a time when this has happened and it's annoying as hell. I hope all this helps mate.

Thank you mate. The joker ring is simply selected in the ring selection that is to the right of the patches that are shown. You just need rep points from completing challenges to increase the level of the ring, and the credits you receive, allow you to buy the ring in the first place. This may be a dumb question, but how do you slide (ie what buttons do you press) to pick up many things?

Well GH, it's making sure you press the O button on the Playstation while RUNNING to perform the slide. But, the most important part is that you have the JOKER ring selected. A level 3 Joker ring will pick up items from within 4 meters when you slide. And that's basically it GH.

If you are playing this on a PC with the mouse & keyboard, then I get why you may struggle. On the playstation with a controller however, very doable. Glad you got the job done mate. The multiplier will only go down if you stop in one spot and don't keep picking up items.

You can still do the challenge this way EH. What you might be confused with, is in the main Days gone game, the entrance is purposefully blocked & has to be taken out with an explosives. When playing the challenge, it is never blocked.

Hmm. All of your video's work perfectly for me, except for this one unfortunately. It just seems way too difficult for some reason. Been trying for days and days. Always something seems to go wrong. most of the times I fail the residue bolts, if I manage to get to the melee weapon in rare cases, I seem to not get enough kills in crafting, I die very often and the time limit seems very hard for me. It is probably my lack of skill but this just seems too difficult to get platinum for me

Well my friend, there is another way. As much as i like this one, it's all out crazy action to get the job done, and a LOT can go wrong. After I had come up with this method, I worked on a far more relaxed method to get the job done. One that wasn't time dependant. And it works amazingly well. It's one of the challenges mate. When the game first loads up and goes to the main menu screen, one of the options will simply be called CHALLENGES. When you select this, you will be presented with 12 challenges that you can try. This one is 4 along on the top row of challenges. A lot of fun to play.

as usual, this doesn't work for me, hundreds of goes, I get attacks from all sides after the grenade throw, no one is where you show them, 3 men chase me when none chase you, the sniper has me lasered from the 1st instance, not you. Reckon the devs watch your patterns and change them...

You are clearly not having a good time with the challenges. I say this as I've just spotted 3 comments in a row where you are struggling. will admit, once the action starts on THIS challenge, there is always an element of unpredictability due to the randomness of fights with marauders under the residue bolts, and where exactly the rest will position, but they do all start at the same positions when you first enter the camp. The success of this run lies in getting the kills you need for the 2 subchallenges that I highlight. You do have a lot of room for doing your own thing, but as long as certain aspects are taken care of, it does work James. Wish you all the best with the other challenges.

@@cbleakley9149 Ok, now this I get. The challenges are like marmite mate, you love em or hate em, and most people hate them. They are tough, but I enjoy them, as I consider them to be extreme versions of scenarios in the Days Gone game (except Dead Before Daylight which I absolutely detest as it's not enjoyable and frickin stupid). You are not alone with your hate for these challenges. Just rock on with the main game and ignore these challenges mate.
